Everybody's different, but it usually takes a while. I shaved a few times before sticking with it permanently. I made the mistake of not following the 30 day rule the first few times. The last time, I forced myself to stick with it for 30 days, and when the time was up, I didn't want to grow my hair back. Hang in there!

I think it is different for everyone, but I think a big thing is this..
if you dig the bald on other people and have wanted it for yourself(because you think it looks good), I think you grow to like it real fast...like that's what you should have looked like..
if you do it just because you feel that's the only option (and bald kinda looks hidious or sick), it may take a while...
but you could still grow to LOVE IT

It took a while...a lot of it had to do with my wife's dislike for it. Other than The Lovely Mrs. Schro, I got a lot of compliments on it.
Probably a few months for me.
Totally diggin' it now.
SLY FOR LIFE.

For me it was more never getting used to thinning hair, so once I decided to carry out the "Plan" I never looked back, but I'm amazed everyday how well it has turned out. I had all the worries that are mentioned on the Forum by new guys who have yet to shave, "Will my head look funny?, Will shaving be a chore?, Will the bumps show?, etc." Those worries were never validated. Instead, from day one compliments--and I still really enjoy that and I'm not entirely used to being complimented by friends and new acquaintances--and I'm glad it still surprises me. My wife, like many others, never has signed on but at least she has to have had a couple of drinks now to say anything, and since that is generally in a social setting w/ friends who all not only approve but in many instances are offering continuing admiration, her derogatory comments are few and far between. I don't know when or if I'll get over the pleasure of being freshly "baby butt" smooth after shaving, it's right up there w/ good sex. Yup, I hope I never "get used to it" because this is too good to lose.

getting bad comments is really annoying and i guess it hurts somehow to get it from family and friend.
but if u like it and feel more comfortable in beeing bald and not beeing the balding man, go for it.
maybe tell your fam. and your friends before you plan the next shave and tell how you u feel about it.
i know it's not easy, i have similar issues the shorter my hair got. never had the smooth look though.
but i'm not far away from doing it, since i joined the forum 2 weeks ago.

It takes time to adjust to anything new. My wife is expecting our first child any day. I know it's going to be tough adjusting to another life coming between my wife and I. It's been a great long extended honeymoon. We do have a dog, so I guess we already do have another life between us. But dogs and kids aren't exactly the same! Don't look forward to the late night crying and feedings.

But back to the subject at hand. I seemed to luck out when I initially went sly. It was for our engagement party and a surprise for everyone including my bride to be. My sly bald head was the hit of the party and I haven't looked back since. When I asked my wife if I should grow my hair back for our wedding she looked at me as if I was crazy.

Guess I'll be sly till I die!
