Hmmm, fish tacos. I'm gonna have to think that one over.
I always thought a fish taco was something else.

Staying in shape at a gym helps in addition to losing weight. Have the two go hand-in-hand together. However; no soda!

Don't sell those short, man. A few years ago I was visiting my stepson in Aliso Viejo, CA. Not far from the ocean and pretty near one of the ocean towns that is famous but the name escapes me right now (welcome to the Golden Years!). Anyway, he took us to a Latino restaurant on the ocean that specialized in fish tacos and they were GREAT! Easily as good, and better than most chicken or beef restaurant tacos I've had.
After I retired in '98 I stopped working out for about 3 years. One day I was walking past mirror with no shirt on and saw myself in profile and almost puked. Got on the scale and saw that my weight was 255. All belly fat. Talk about a wake-up! My wife talked me into starting Weight Watchers and I started working out like a fiend. A lot of cardio including treadmill and road running and a TaeBo program called impact which uses a pedestal bag for full contact striking. Over the course of 3-4 months I lost 50 pounds and got to where I could see the outline of abs. First time for that.
I really came to respect the Weight Watchers concept. No special foods that cost extra. Just good recipes using healthy foods and self-monitoring based on a point system, no calorie counting. That was too math challenging for me. Depending on the intensity of the workout I earned extra points that I could use for snacks. And I never felt limited as to what I could eat, that was the part that felt less like being on a "diet".
50 lbs is a HUGE accomplishment!!!! Congratulations!!!
When I weighed in today I was down a total of 16 lbs! So I can definately see that I am making progress!!!
Thanks for all the encouragement!

Very true StogieStang.....well I removed the post I made....I must have been in quite an emotional state when posting it and I just don't feel comfortable knowing it is all out there, plus I didn't really get any replies to it, so it probably just made people go "Whoa" and decided to leave that one alone! ha!

Well I thought I would come back to this thread and give you guys an update. I weighed 275 in my before picture and in my after picture I'm down to 235. That after picture was taken a couple weeks ago so I hope to be down another 5 lbs by now. I didn't have a full body picture so I took the same pose in the after picture for comparision.

My back has been pain free for sometime now. That has been a problem from a motorcycle accident that I had in 2002. It resulted in a herniated disc that I had surgery on to correct. However, I still get pain down my left leg after I exercise, but it's not too bad and goes away shortly after. I'm around 230 now and 5'11". I'm wanting to get down to 195lbs. I suspect that once I reach 195 I'll still want to be thinner. I'm not really sure where my ideal weight is until I get there. I have a large frame so the BMI doesn't seem very accurate for me.
