I know this topic was covered by Tyler in Nov '06 but I thought it would be interesting to re-discuss it.
What type of sunglasses do you all wear? I'll start:
From my avatar pic you can see my favorite pair of Police mirrored aviators. I think a bald head and aviators is an awesome look.

I also wear PapaG loc-style sunglasses made by Von Zipper. Square lenses and jet black frames, made popular by Latinos in SoCal.
How about everyone else, what is your prefered form of protective eyewear?

Good topic, JDog. I really want to find me a good pair of sunglasses. Right now I just use the cheapies from WalMart since I tend to either lose or damage the ones I have.

i got a pair of brown aviators which are awesome but unfortunately they're bent to sh*t. I try and re bend them but that only makes it worse. also if anyone watches the show burn notice on USA i got a pair of those, sort of.

seconding (edit: thirding?) the aviators, they're just so classy. i lifeguarded (and coached a swim team) for many summers and aviators were my shades of choice. unfortunately, i'll need to acquire a new pair because they followed the trend of my other sunglass and broke (d'oh!). this seems to happen to all my sunglasses at some point.
other than that, i'm a bit fond of my newest pair of oakley's (type: whisker)

can't wait for summer... or at least spring... until i can sport them with my cueball head

Rick for years I always wore cheappies too, it wasnt until I became Sly that I actually thought about how sunglasses can compliment how you look.

I still have my Oakley Blades (circa 2001) that I will never part with (great for running & golf). My prescription sunglasses are actually "regular" frames, with dark sunglass lenses. I'm not sure of the brand, but they are sharp looking. I should look for a new style of sunglasses for when I wear contacts. As much as I love my Oakleys, they clearly are dated for just wearing when I'm out & about.

jesse....good topic btw. that's what i hate about wearing prescription glasses....i'm limited 2 the type of sunglasses that i can own. i was about 2 purchase some transition lenses but most of my friends or co-workers told me 2 stay away from them because they don't turn dark when u R in the car...only when u r outside.

anyways....i did find some of the square black glasses that can actually fit over my prescription glasses and they look very sly. jesse...if i can remember in one of your former avatar pics u were sporting some square black glasses with a beach background. remember? anyways....i own a similar pair except it fits over my glasses. in the future... i'm hoping 2 buy some oakleys....similar 2 the ones dinosaur posted.

Andrew, thanks for the tip. I like your sunglasses.

Fellow Domers... If you have prescription sunglasses, do you also get no line bifocals? (for all of us old farts)

I wear Oakley Juliets... love them!
In the past (after slyness), I've worn Killer Loops and Ray Bans... just don't remember what the model was!

I'm with SLYinKC I usually sport the Walmart cheapies. After reading all the posts I'm thinking it might be time to invest in a nice pair. I have always liked aviators, but am I missing a bigger picture? Not all shades look good on me. I have a big head (literally and figuratively). Any suggestions on styles to consider?

Just go to a Sunglass Hut (or similar) and try a bunch of different pairs on... find a couple that you like and then either go home and order online, or go to that manufacturer's outlet store. I got mine at an Oakley Vault outside of Palm Springs for about $50 less than at Sunglass Hut.

I used to by nice sunglasses but I would either break them or loose them, so to me nothing beats the CVS $12.99 rack. Hey with a head that looks this good, the sun might need glasses to look at me.

In case you couldn't tell from my username, I am a huge fan of Oakleys. Been wearing them for almost 20 years now, been through most of the styles, like them all.
For you prescription wearers, they do offer prescription sunglasses on their website.

I have some of the papa g's mentioned above and I also wear a set of wire frames (not aviators, more square lenses). I also wear mad doggers (small biker shades).
I am waiting untill spring to buy something new.
