Watch out WWE! In about a week the show that many of us in our 30's stayed up late to watch as a kid is returning to TV - American Gladiators! There's nothing like watching a bunch of weekend warriors taking on professional athletes in events that require head on, full body contact. For thoseof you that aren't familiar with American Gladiators, it's a show where two male and two female contestants compete against each other to earn the most points in events where they compete against the American Gladiators. There is 10 different events that they battle the American Gladiators in - Joust, Wall, Assaut, Pyramid, Gauntlet, Earthquake, Elimnator, Hang Tough, Powerball, and Hit and Run.
The best part about this show is that the contestants are often much smaller than the American Gladiators and can often take a real beating. For example, here's the bio of one of this years' contestants:
Molivann Duy
Age: 24 Height: 5'7" Weight: 155
His bio reads:
Molivann Duy is a 24-year-old daycare teacher by day and student by night. His biggest idols are his parents who fled Cambodia during the 1970s massacres and made a great life out of nothing. By example of his parents, Molivann feels like he can accomplish anything he puts his mind to. He currently lives in Lakewood, California.
Now, that's a heart warming story that Molivann has, but it's not going to do him any good when he faces someone like the sly Alex Castor, a Gladiator that goes by the name of Militia.
Here's Militia's stats:
The 6-foot, 3-inch, 220-pound Gladiator targets his opponents with tactical precision. With an impressive arsenal of skills at his disposal, he is well equipped for any operation and will do anything to complete his objective. Once Militia has you in his sights, you'd better have a plan, or the game is over.

There's also the added benefit of watching the women go at it. It's not every day that you get to see your typical girl next door take on some muscle enriched, beast of a woman. Here's one of the contestants Kim.
Kim Marciniak is a 28-year-old medical sales rep and former dancer for the New York Knicks. She is a bubbly "Jersey girl" who grew up dancing and spent years doing so for the New York Knicks. She wants to prove that she can handle anything, and "American Gladiators" is just the way she wants to do it. She currently lives in Avenel, New Jersey.

American Gladiators airs on Sunday, January 6th at 9/8c. To learn more about American Gladiators, go to
