• How to Properly Light a Cigar.
  
  
  Smoking a cigar should be an experience full of romance and enjoyment, and properly lighting a cigar is an important part of this process. Once you have the end of the cigar either nipped or punched, the BEST way to light a cigar is to use a wooden match or lit sliver of wood. NEVER ,use a liquid fuel'd lighter :zippo. These type lighter can ruin a good smoke, to the point of making you GAG! Without allowing the flame to actually touch the end of the cigar, while drawing (sucking/puffing)easily, gently roll the edges of the cigar close to the flame until it is lit. In time the binder will catch fire and you'll notice bluish wisps of smoke rising from the end. Continue to roll the cigar until the entire rim is lit then gently blow on the end of it. Once the entire end of the cigar has a light grey ash, softly blow OUT on the cigar to clear any soot and ash. Your cigar should now be ready to smoke

• Do I Need a Special Solution for My Humidifier?
  
  
  MOST humidors come with a standard humidification system that only requires DISTELLED water.  There are activator solutions on the market that contain chemicals, such as propylene glycol (PG).  All you need to do with most standard humidification systems is to keep the humidifier filled with DISTELLED water or a PG Solution and check the humidity level on your hygrometer every week.  When the humidity level drops below 65, add more DISTELLED water or PG Solution to your humidifier.  If you want a more maintenence free system, Consider upgrading your humidifier to an electric humdifier that uses DISTELLED water OR  pg solution.  One of the best on the market today is the Cigar Oasis brand .  The Cigar Oasis electric humdifiers come in two parts.  One section holds the distilled water/ PG solution and the other holds the motor.  Fill the resorvoir with DISTELLED water and attach both pieces together. Place the unit into your humidor and plug it in.  It's that easy!  You won't have to check this type of system every week, but it's recommend checking the level every month or so.  You should go several months before needing to refill the unit with distilled water. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, should you use standard tap water!Using regular tap water is a GREAT WAY to have a nice MOLDY humistat in just a week or so .  ALSO protect your cigar investment and check on your"account" at least one a week to make sure all your "equpment is still working effeciently

  I would never use a match to light a cigar, nothing like sucking back the sweet taste of sulphur.

• well , using a GOOD wood match is A LOT better than using a zippo , and the WOOD matches you get from the smoke shops are  very low in sulfur . You should never really let the flame of any heat source to actually TOUCH the foot of your cigar . I havent posted these suggestions to be a smart ass (as i usually am)  i was ASKED for some pointers by some of the members that ARENT as knowledgeable as some others , if you have some pointers toss them in , I myself am no authority by any long shot, so MOST of the things I will post are cut/pasted from books/magazines/articles

• SCHIP Cigar Tax Update
  The debate in the U.S. Congress over proposed legislation to expand the State Children's Health Insurance Program, which could raise the federal excise tax on cigars from $.05 to $3.00 per cigar (a 6,000% increase), may now continue until December 14, 2007. A temporary extension of the existing SCHIP program at current levels has been approved though said date. If the U.S. House cannot pass a veto proof bill by December 14, then it is possible that the existing program will be extended again through September 2008, with no increase in the federal excise tax on cigars until that time. Unless you want to start paying $75 more for a box of cigars (either after December 14, 2007 or September 30, 2008), contact your congressman and voice your opposition to the proposed increase in the federal excise tax on cigars.

  I have a pocket lighter that works the same as a car dash lighter, don't taste a thang and its all lit cleanly all around.

• I use a Zippo lighter to light my cigars and they do not affect the taste nor the enjoyment of having one.

  Nahhh....I smoke a pipe now and again....and the best escape is--Obviously--brushing yer teeth....but also using the good ol' mouth burning original LISTERINE!!!

• cure 4 cigar breath ?  well anything with a acid content, like a strong tea because of TANIC acid or citrus juice drinks, Squirt, lemonade,grapefruit   TOMATOE juices or a V8 will help cut it if you cant brush fairly soon and a quick with a 60/40 hydrogenperoxide solution HELPS ALOT
