We BBQ our turkey every year.
My dad passed the Weber BBQ that we have been cooking turkeys on for the past 15-20 years on to me a few years back once I took over the turkey day festivities.
It works great, makes for a very good juicy turkey and frees up the oven for other stuff.
The men of the family get bundled up and stand around the BBQ solving the worlds problems as we drink... good times.

We've always done baked and will likely do it again this year as we were invited to a friend's house.
Now that I have a smoker, I may try that in 2008.

Like most things, fried usually tastes better. I've had smoked and it runs a close second. I'll probably have baked because that is what is usually prepared by my family.

MMMMMMMMM.........fried turkey. I've only had it once, but loved it. We usually have baked because we don't have a fryer. But that is some damn good eats.

I usually fry it, but this year it's just us, so going to smoke a large turkey breast.

WTF??Fried Turkey? You must be kidding me..This is the first I've ever heard of this being done on Thanksgiving. I love fried food just as much as the next guy but frying a Thanksgiving turkey sounds very bizarre.

Fried is great. You would think it would be greasy but it's not. The oil is so hot that it seals all the juices inside the meat. I can fry an 18lb bird in 55 minutes and it will be sweet, tender, and juicy. Not dry. But you need a frying set up and a place away from anything that can burn.

Rob I take it you need a rather large fryer to accomplish this ? I own a deep fryer that I use on a weekly basis and there is no way it could fry an 18lb turkey. What do you use to accomplish this? An industrial sized fryer?
