Why do you live where you do?

The "where are you from" question has popped up quite a few times but we haven't heard a whole lot of why people are where they currently live.
I'll go first. There's not much to it. I've lived most of my life in South Jersey. My immediate family is close by and it's a convenient commute to and from work. It's too congested for my liking and the property taxes are too damn high, but I haven't had any compelling reason to go find somewhere else to live. How about the rest of you?

Because I am underage and it is hard for my dad to convince my mom of the moving to the states lol

If i could move to the states, it would definately be where it does not snow. One thing mother nature created to torchure people a few months out of each year

After trying to get benefits in Illinois for my disabled brother...Wisconsin just suits his situation better...and it is easier on my girlfriend. Plan on moving to Arizona or Nevada in a couple of years anyway, after I retire from the Navy.

I thought you were going to say you were there for the Tim Horton's.

Moved to the KC area from Springfield, MO after college for a job. Then met my wife, who is from central Iowa. So now we are basically half way in-between both sides of the family and it's hard to move one direction or the other.

Lived here my whole life. Just about all my family from both my side and my wife's are here. Plus my wife has a good job in the local school system. I, myself have often thought of moving just for something different. But all in all there is no real reason to make a move. Retirement though...That's a different story all together. Who knows?

I live in Birmingham, Alabama.
I'm with PBurk. I am where I am because my wife has deep roots and doesn't want to leave. Now we both have jobs we would like to retire from so that sealed the deal...

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I moved here for the dot com riches, which never happened. Instead I found the love of my life. She's also deeply rooted here, so I don't think we'll be leaving anytime soon. Good thing is that my hometown is only 4 hours away.

I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia simply because I'm going to college. When I have the money I'll move back out to the "country"
Nova Scotia has my heart and home and I can't picture living anywhere else.
I grew up near the ocean, and now my apartment is only a 15 minute walk from the shipping dockyards, the last breath I take is going to be salty I tell yah boy!

I live in Gods Country....Sydney Australia. It is so beautiful here, I live across the road from one of the best beaches in this country! But still close to the city and not far from the country.
Northern Beaches has a really chilled atmosphere but still a busy city - lots to do and see! I love it.
If I were going to live anyplace else it would be Ohio (cant get anymore opposite of Sydney).....family is super important! Maybe one day!
