How did everyone's mother react to their clean-shaven head? My mom was a professional and very talented with both men's and women's cuts, so she had cut my hair all my life. The bald head definitely wasn't her fave at first, but she got over it and thought I looked just fine. She'd even ask me if I was shaving it with a regular razor and shaving cream or an electric razor, if I was moisturizing it and remembering sunscreen, etc.

My mom passed shortly after I first started shaving my head, so she never saw me without hair. She most likely would not have liked it. My dad, who passed over 40 years ago would have liked it. In the 70's, when long hair was popular he was always bugging me to get a crewcut.

Moms typically do not like their son's with a shaved head. Or a beard. I am of the opinion that toa mom a shaved head, or a beard, is more evidence that their little boy has grown up. They go as far as to like the look of a shaved head or beard on other men, but not their own son. Over time, my mom accepted that I was going to continue shaving my head and growing my beard (3 years or so). The negative comments eventually stopped, but I don't think she ever like either.

My mother was shocked and horrified when I first buzzed my hair
and I was already in my early 20s then.
That was years before I shaved bald for the first time and the reaction by then was more subdued but still not approving
Still gotta live your own life -

My mom was a bit surprised but she actually bought me a foil shaver. She knew I was happy bald.

My mother has been a hair stylist since the 80s. She would often cut my hair since I was a child. When she saw it for the first time a few years back, she didn't say anything. Deep inside I know she didn't like it. Part of the reason she didn't say anything was because my siblings and I have been more assertive with her criticism lately.
She often tells me or implies that I would look best with at least some hair, but her ideal look for me would be with plenty of slicked-back hair and with a clean-shaven baby face. I do NOT care for that look. I'm not trying to be a model or a pretty boy. I just want to look more mature, but in decent shape. -

I think that's a great observation that I didn't think of. My mother had been cutting my hair since I was very young and would often cut mine whenever I visited her. I still let her cut or trim it when I let it grow out a bit. She was the first to tell me that the hair on the top of my head looked like it was thinning. -

My hair was always sore subject with parents ever since I was a kid. It was always a nagging to get a short haircut. When I started cutting my hair short after college such as a short army regulation cut or 'cop haircut', it became 'why do you cut your hair so short'.
Mom hated my buzzcuts and especially when I was clipper shaving my head. She never nagged me to grow it out but it was obvious she was not a fan.
But for whatever reason, she likes my head razor shaved. It's like my hair fell out of the equation and never came into questioning. I just interpret it as being that not only did I think my shaved head was my best haircut, but Mom and others did to.
I think guys underestimate the idea, that many of us look better bald. -

I know my mother doesn't like me bald and with facial hair, but I don't care.
I want a more mature and bold look since I feel it fits my personality better than clean shaven babyfaced polished hair look she thinks I would look best.
