Shaving down with a full head of hair

I decided I wanted to try something different this week so I took the plunge and shaved my head. I am a white male and I still have a full head of hair, just wanted a change. I was wondering since I am new to this and have no past experience is it difficult to get a totally smooth shaved head when you essentially still have a full head of hair? I have naturally curly hair (not course but just curly) and had been trying to stay with the grain to avoid irritation. Also figured I should add my first shave I used the Fusion razor and this second one I tried a standard throw away bic and used barbersol shaving cream.

1. Looks like a fitting hair cut/style for a security guy.
2. You have become BBC, bald by choice. I'm also BBC, too.
So, here's how it goes. Take it easy for the first week or two. With the grain. Then add the ATG shaving. I found that within a month I was able to get the nice smooth head shave that I was looking for. Now almost 4 years later, I'm still enjoying a smooth head!
Glad you gave it a try. Hope you stick with it. Looks good on you.

Thanks for the advice. Yea i will stick WTG for now, because my largest fear in doing it in the first place was bumps/burn. For a first time shaver is every 2-3 days a good guideline for shaving? Idefinitely do like the look, it's a good change.

It takes some time and practice, but eventually you will learn "your head" and how to get it smooth, and in less time it is taking you now. Most of us do, though, have a few problem areas that are almost impossible to get perfectly smooth. It does look like you did a good job and it looks good, how about a pre-shave photo with hair for comparison?

You look great. I'm BBC, too. Like the others have said, you do usually have some places that don't want to get totally smooth, but you get pretty adept pretty quickly. As they say, practice makes perfect.

It makes sense about the problem areas and that practice will improve the results. Guess as long as it looks bald and I don't have long noticeable spots I miss it's good. Was just wondering if I might of been missing something as to not getting it super smooth. I do notice some spots are nearly smooth and some although they look bald and not really different than the smooth spots just feel kinda picky.
Here was a picture of me from a couple months ago with my hair for a before photo. (On the left)

you look great shaven, it will get easier, the fusion shaver is good to use. Shortly you will find it easier to go against the grain especially on the sides - at least i find it so.
