Looking for advice

Hey all! I'm excited to be on this forum!
Here's my story, in short form - I have a full head of thick black hair. I have just a touch of a receding hairline, but it's not terribly noticeable yet. I am very interested in shaving my head, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet, mainly because of the fear of other people looking at me funny. A few years ago, when I was on a holiday break from work, I did shave it. And I liked it! But I started growing it back before I went back to work, so I'm not sure what other people will think of it. I know that shouldn't matter. Anyway, I've attached a side by side pic of what I look like now next to what I looked like bald. The bald pic is not the best (sorry about the furrowed brow) but it's the only one I have. I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on if I have a good shaped head for being bald by choice. Thanks!

I understand you concern. But I think you look really good bald. When I shaved my head a lot of people made a fuss, and asked a lot of questions. The most common was,
"Why did you shave your head?". I answered honestly and truthfully. After a while, people just got used to the fact that I am bald and plan to stay that way. As long as you think you look good shaved that's what really counts.
If being bald makes you happy, go for it! Try it for 30 days. I don't think you'll regret it.

100% perfect head shape. 100% perfect beard texture to complement your BBC. Wait no longer - shave your head - go directly to "Go" - do not procrastinate any longer.

Hi Walt, I think you looked good with a shaved head, and a great looking beard too. I shaved a full head of hair without anyone knowing ahead of time. I put photos up on Facebook immediately, and just said, "my new summer haircut". I received many compliments, very few questions. If you've been thinking about shaving your head, it will be on your mind until you do it. If anyone asks why, just say, because you like it. Period.

You look great bald, especially with the beard.
I was in a similar position several years ago. I had started thinning and receding, buy not noticeable to others. I had always told myself the I would shave before going bald. I had been keeping my hair cut for a few years, so it was not a huge change for me. It did take a few people by surprise, but really it was not as big a deal to anyone as I thought it would be in my head. So my advice is just go for it if you are ready and don't look back.
It will take some time for family and friends to adjust, but if you stick with it, it will be fine. If you go back and fourth between shaved and with hair, the negative comments will likely continue.
I will also add that I let my hair grow a few weeks last year while off work just to see how much the MBP had progressed, and the top of my head has very little hair remaining. I am very glad I shaved early on and I did not waste my time trying to deal with ever changing hairstyle in an attempt to conceal my MPB.

Thank you all for the encouragement. It really helps! I am going to try to do it tonight and I will post my experience in the "30 Day Rule..." thread.

I know I'm perhaps late to the party, but I think you look quite excellent bald. I'm BBC, and I know it can seem odd to people to choose to be bald. But it's a great choice, and you just have to own it. People respect "I felt like it" as a response, whether they understand it or not.

Didn't get it done last night. It got a little late and I want to have time to shave carefully. I know from experience that slow and steady is the way to go! Still a little worried about peoples' reactions, but I know that will pass with time. I can't tell you all how much I appreciate the encouragement! My plan is to do it (hopefully tonight) and stick with it for 30 days at least. Keep the encouraging words coming in!
