In its bald, battered and broken glory

Hi Folks
Some of you might remember my previous threads. In summary, I struggle with major confidence issues relating to my hair loss and the shape of my head. Over the span of the last couple of years, as my hair loss progressed, I started keeping my hair shorter and shorter. Despite my deformed noggin, short still looks better than little tufts of hair here and there. Even so, I still hate being bald, especially in my mid-twenties and I truly envy guys who still have a full head of hair (just about everyone in my age group). It seems that women, workplaces and society in general favors them over us unlucky few who got screwed by Mother Nature.
I went to my barber today and I asked him to take it all off. Instead of a clipper with a zero guard, he whipped out a razor. I figured that I might as well go with it, since it's pretty much inevitable anyway.
What do you think?
Cheers,
rfn

Welcome back, rfn!
Dude, sly fits you well! I can hardly notice the scar on the left side of your head unless I put glasses on...and even then I have to practically squint my eyes to see it! I noticed that you had asked about scalp scars in a previous thread. Not to hijack but here's a few photos of mine. I just want to show you that you can rock a sly head no matter what!
I had two nasty cysts on the back of my head (removed surgically) on the center right of my cranium and on the left side of the nape of my neck...but using Mederma for a year really helped minimize them to the point where it doesn't even bother me and I stopped using concealer to hide them. Even if you don't keep it long term, you now know what it's like. Thanks for sharing the pictures and good luck to you!

I wouldn't have realised either of you had scars on your heads.
rfn - you look great, we all have different shaped heads, it's just one of those things that happens when we are born. How are you liking being sly?

I think you look really great! I agree with Sir Harry that I don't actually notice the dent all that much.

To tell the truth, you look totally cool and very natural with sly-head! Actually I can't imagine how you looked until yesterday with hairs. It was a correct decision. Don't worry more and keep it smooth :-)

Looks awesome, rfn. I suggest to let your goatee gain some length or transition to a full beard. Both go great with a sly dome.

I think it makes you look clean-cut fit and healthy. I don't think you're going to have any trouble at all finding female attention!

Hi guys
Thanks for all the positive feedback, I appreciate it. And Sir Harry, thank you for posting photos of your scars. If I go for an op to fix my dent, I may well have quite a big scar on my head. It's good to get an indication of what I can expect.
I went to a friend's birthday lunch today, and she posted photos on Facebook afterwards. I'm still not really comfortable with the way I look, especially when the light amplifies all the irregularities in my skull, and I'm surrounded by a bunch of guys my age who still have most of their hair. I'll have to stick with it to see if I can ever make peace with it. I'll try to let my goatee grow out a bit as well, but sadly, my facial hair is not great.
Cheers,
rfn

Rfn, I didn't notice anything unusual in those photos. Your head looks typical to me. For what it's worth I'm envious of guys my age (50s) who still have their hair, but I have learned to love me bald. You definitely will make peace with it. Give it time.

rfn,
The pictures in my last post were from about 2 1/2 years ago roughly six months after my surgeries. The scars are still somewhat there, but my skin tone has come back in those areas to the point it looks just like small scratches. Even with the small scars, I'm happy as opposed to having two oversized cysts on my head. If (when) you go for your surgery, the scar tissue may stand out in the beginning, but with the proper use of creams, avoiding scratching that area and a matter of time, the post surgery scar won't be there. But if you ask me, your head is fine and unless it's a health issue, I would leave it as is, myself. Good luck to you and keep us posted!
