Hello everyone! My name is Ian and I just joined after a few months of lurking and a few weeks of registration issues. I'm 26, bearded, bald by choice, professional brewer, and pretend professional drummer on weekends. Had a huge Afro for years then took it down slowly over time to full buzzcut before going to electric rotary shaver and finally, almost two months ago, sly sly sly with help of the info I learned here and my trusty headblade atx! I love the smooth dome and, most importantly, my wife LOVES the smooth dome
I used to shave my face but had to stop due to constant ingrown hairs and irritation. My neck would look like I should go to the hospital daily and that was even with brush + soap + de. However with my head I've had very little issues. I do occasionally get bumps on the back of my neck and my head "crease" but they are getting better as my technique does and I know that is a common trouble spot even for seasoned sly guys. On my atx I use the dorco pace 4 blades because they are the same as the hb4s but at a fraction of the cost. I tried their twin blade carts on my atx with the sport adapter (think dsc humble twin) but it actually was terrible despite being one of the only blades I could use on my face previously. I don't use oil because my oily skin hates it and I get pimples. I enjoyed cremo cooling but had an allergic reaction. Headslick works great but is a little pricey and not easily available locally for me. I also love dsc dr carvers shave butter but again it's a little pricey and I don't really use dsc much anymore. I recently tried (of all things) barbasol aloe with great success! Noxzema foam with aloe and lanolin as well as gillette foamy are garbage but that darn barbasol is a champ! I do have a brush and bowl so I may try a puck again but I honestly dont have the time or patience to whip up lather daily. I'll save the rest for posts but I wanted to catch y'all up on journey so far.
Be kind and well my sly breddrin!
Ian

BBC here, too in NC, but I do visit Florida from time to time. Might move there someday in retirement.
Welcome!

Hi Ian: Welcome to the sly fraternity from Beautiful NW Florida. We hope that you become an active member. You should make time to use that brush. It will improve your shaves and make the experience of shaving better.

Thanks everyone! Warhawk, I have good technique with the brush so maybe I will pull it back out. It's nice to have a"quick shave" option on the reg but nothing beats the feeling of the brush and it's added benefits. I'm admittedly too lazy for it daily but I do plan on pulling it out when I feel like getting fancy
also I hear that if you think you love headslick you'll be blown away when using a brush. Maybe I'll try tomorrow for the heck of it...

Welcome Slycat:
Too bad I didn't know you sooner. I was just down in FLA two weeks ago and drove from the North edge to the South edge right down I75 puttin' some color on my Big Bad Bald By Choice head! I would have stopped to say hello!
