Thought i would start a new thread as i have decided to go the DE route!
Now, people mention the Microtouch One but i cant get that here in the UK.
I remember my dad used to shave with a DE. Dont know which one and God bless him but he is not around now to ask

Obviously i want to get one that will last a long time! Not sure on blades either.
Let me know what you recommend and why. I currently use a Fusion Proglide and a Braun 340. Even the Fusion can leave the head not as smooth as i would like!
Time to move over to DE!

I've heard that the microTouch One is a clone of the Weishi 9306-f.

As a beginner myself, I can recommend the Micro Touch One razor as a good beginner razor

I just started using a safety razor a few months ago. After reading around here, I bought the EJ 89 from Amazon. I have nothing to compare it to but I have been loving shaving with it. I bought a sample pack of razors also from Amazon and a very generous friend sent me a large variety of razors to try. So far, I like the Feathers best. I was really afraid to try them because everyone said how sharp they are. I was afraid I would slice myself up. But I have always been pretty good with shaving in general and rarely cut myself.
So while I have no others to compare it to, I like the EJ and it looks beattiful, gleaming in its stand on my counter!

Personally I'd recommend one that is twist to open (aka butterfly doors), as they are easier to load and clean. Parker makes a few TTO models.

I have read that the Feather blades are scary but where i bought the gear they didnt have a lot of choice in blades and a lot where out of stock too. I will try to take it easy and have a go on my face first!

I'll put my two cents in. For shaving my face I use my Merkur future. Don't know how it will perform on the head but I feel it is the best DE razor that I have used.

I shaved yesterday for the first time with a DE razor. Thanks to Warhawk for sending me an assortment of blades to try. It was definitely the smoothest shave I've had. I used the Astra blades.

Feather blades are nice but they aren't as aggressive as everyone says they are.

Great choice and definitely keep us posted. Google. . . "mantic59". He has some excellent videos on DE shaving. He is a great choice. Also... Google: "Geofatboy". He is another excellent source.
