If that was hair ...i must have had a damn rain forest on my head. I dont mean to sound cruel or anything Andy...but if that is the look you are trying to acheive...well if i were you ...( yes me) i would keep ti shaved off man. I m liek the other guys....the comb overs are really bad. THe guys who do the comb overs ....are jsut fooling themselves. And liek the others.. IM confussed as hell...either you liek it or you dont..which isit??

well i dont know if the hairloss forums where the problem. i didnt like my balding even before i went to the hairloss forums. they just made it worse i think.
the biggest problem was , i hoped propecia would make my hair really thick again, but when i saw it didnt that was really depressing. though actually this was excactly the time when i first went into a hairloss forum.
at least i want to grow it now to see how my hair is now. maybe when its a buzz look i can see already if its still that bad. -

Andy, I agree with Razor, you're all over the place.
But I can also understand why. Losing your hair at any age is not pleasant.
Losing it at a young age must really be hard.
I started noticing my thinning a couple of years ago(I just turned 44). But, as most of the other guys are saying, you have to put in in some sort of perspective.
Really try to be honest and take a good long look in the mirror. You will probably come to the decision to keep it sly and clean. It looks much, much better shaved down or buzzed.
And also, you really have to stay off the hair loss forum. It is not helping you at all. If anything, it is totally messing with your head, playing on your insecurity. Don't fall for it.
Stick around here, these guys are a great bunch and will help you get through it.

I was only two years older than you when I started shaving my head and probably started thinning a year before that. So, I know what you're going through. My worry is that you have a false sense of reality when it comes to your hair and what you think it can provide.
You are taking meds in hope that someone will come out with a hair restoration technique in the future. Why don't you shave your head and if someone comes up with that technique you can then grow your hair out and have the procedure done. Otherwise, all you are doing is spending money on a product that probably isn't doing anything - i know you say it does, but I think that is probably your false hope - and you have a VERY HIGH percentage of ruining your sex life - the one thing you're worried about losing along with your hair. Oh, and if you took that money that your spending on meds and invested instead, that would probably be even more attractive to a woman that a thin mop on the top of your head.
Here you have plenty of guys, regardless of age, telling you how you can shed your worries and live a more confident, fulfilling life.
Though, that's just my opinion. I'll shut up now and go hang out with my beautiful wife.

I am 25 (close to your age) i noticed my hair thinning at the same age you are now. I've had the thought about going sly in the back of my mind since the time i discovered it. I just haven't had the will power to take the plunge yet. I wasnt able to see the original pic of you before the cut but from what i can see, that look suits you. You have a good head shape. If your worried about pulling chicks, you shouldn't have to worry about that. A LOT of the other guys here can vouch for me that chicks love a bald guys. ohh and just for the record, so do gay guys.
I have a woman at work that talks about her husband saying how much she wants him to go sly. I made a bet with her this week, if she can get her husband to go sly, I would do it too. She said, "you wanna be bald hey?" i laughed and said, "i'm not scared."
Back on the topic at hand. My two best friends are balding, they are both 24 and 27. Its not as uncommon as you think. Next time you go out, take a look at guys our age and notice how many of them have some sort of hair loss.
Hairloss is something that unfortunately we can't change as much as other people and companies want to tell us. I decided early on that if I showed signs of MPB I would shave/buzz mine and not bother with drugs or creams, etc, or god forbid, Comb Overs (ewww).
Keep shaving your head and give it time, it will grow on you.

Well if it is mostly you be worried about the women steering away from you ....let me tell you ....it only makes them drive closer to you. When I was in Florida..we ate at this restaurant and this chick i would say prolly 21 or 22 years old...she was our waitress and you know how you are always looking for your waitress or waiter for refills...well I never had to look for her because she was constantly coming back to our table wiht a huge smile and at first I didnt think much of it until i would watch her as she would walk away....she would turn her head around and here eyes were like locking in on my head an dshe had a big smile on her face. The whole time Im thinking...Gawd I hope my wife isnt noticing this...cause here I sat with my wife and three kids. And I am always getting compliments mostly from the ladies. I have also noticed that people I have talked to before and had conversations with have usually just stood there and chatted with me but always seem preoccupied. Now these same people I have noticed when they talk to me they are focused on me....either on my head or looking straight at me and they sometimes wont SHUT UP! LOL... It just makes me feel better as a person. Hey look ....i know being bald isnt for all people, but when you have this many compliments about how you look better shaved or buzzed down...why not go with it. What if we drug a bunch of girls into this site and had them all give you their opinion and they were all over you saying how good it looked..would you keep it shaved?? I think you would....I just pray for the day that everyone will finally stop and take a look at themselves and see that waht they are doing is for the benefit of others and not for themselves. That is where we need to turn the table around...we need to do things for the benefit of ourselves and not what others think. I think in due time..you will find being sly is the ultimate.

I think you are right, outsider, it's a lot more common than you might think. The ones who stick out are the ones who try to hide the 'unhideable' hair loss. There are a lot of buzzed guys who are losing their hair. Look around, and you will see a lot of guys like that. It's just not as noticeable because you really only see the ridiculous combover or long-hair-but-not-covering-up-my-hair-loss guys. I am curious to hear from any of our lady members what your initial opinion is of a balding guy who is in shape and buzzes his hair down. Do you think that this guy is more attractive, confident, AND approachable than the same guy who resorts to some method to 'cover up' the hairloss. -

First, Andy welcome to the site bro, you came to a place that you will find things that others will relate to and it will help to know you are not the only one out there...
Now, by some of your posts, honestly my eyes are crossed
, but you are definitely at that stage, I guess between Denial & Acceptance...it keeps flip-flopping, but you are going to go through that. Do you spend a lot of time in the mirror??? don't answer, I already know it is yes. Give it a break. You are your worst critic bro. You have to take a stance, sooner or later...the sooner the better!
Keep it short, it looks good. You have to start by making yourself happy and your confidence will come. Its noticeable about your insecurity, but only because of your posts. Believe me, everyone you come across is not looking at your hair, or even care who the hell you are...they are too busy worrying about THEMSELVES. I suggest you read some more topics, get some more great advice, and set a goal to make a decision on your hair. Once you do, stick with it, and it will be 1 less thing you have to worry about...you will love the freedom once you are at the acceptance stage...I promise dude

well guys, my problem isnt the ladies. i even think that with a shaved head i will get many more ladies than with a full head of hair.
i think its coz of the thoughts in my head. they make we want to have hair. and they are deep down.
i just cant stop the pills. and at the moment i dont have any sides.
money isnt an issue coz this problem with hair or no hair is so much controlling my life that its just worth the money.
the only thing with which you could convince me stop taking the meds is if you tell me that a horseshoe pattern looks better than a hair pattern.
we should make a study
. who is more happy and successfull......the bald by choice guys or the "real" bald guys in here???
let me just make this try. i want to grow it out again to about 1.5 inches. then i see how bad it looks now.
i now think a sly bald head isnt the worst thing of the world
. but i still would prefer hair. and i definatley would prefer to have this shadow of hair.
i think what will be good for me is a buzz cut with shorter sides.
so again, its not coz of the ladies. i already see that with a shaved head i get better attention from the ladies. so thats not the problem.
the problem is in me. what i want from life.
maybe in a few years im this far that i am in a situation where i *could* kick the meds. but not now. im just too insecure for this and not adult enough.
i really think that at the time my hair is grown out it will look much better than on this photo due to improvment.

thank you YOSP. this post really helps me. you are right, i always look in the mirror, all the time. even if im out of the house i got to bathrooms and look how it looks in different lightning.
and yes, i think its true, im between denial and acceptance. sometimes i think noone notices and i got for other people a full head of hair coz they arent familiar with hairloss and what to look for. or i think "oh in this lightning you wont see it".
then other times i think everyone sees my hairloss and my horseshoe pattern. i even think people talk about it.

YOSP....man... i agree my eyes r crossed after reading andy's post. in fact i'm gonna take some tylenol 2 knock this headache..... andy... i hope that u can get out of the denial/accetance of your mpb. your lack of confidence is evident from your post. man.... u r sooo young 2 b depressed. man....this is the prime of your life!!! ask another one of r sly brahs... chico d..... man..... he is exactly in your position but he has accepted his mpb and luving his new look. hopefully your next post will b somewhat positive and that u can tackle & accept your mpb because there r no meds that will cure mpb unless u want 2 wear a rug. anyways.... enough with my blabbering.... i just hope that u can accept & embrace it. because u r NOT officially sly unless u have embraced & r PROUD 2 have a slick dome.
