I guy at my church was sly for at least five years and recently went back to a horseshoe, with thin hair on top. He keeps is at about a 1/2" buzz. I have never asked him why the change, but I am curious since he was sly for so long.
Slybeard, that is my question.... should I walk up to this stranger and ask him why? Other people seem to have no problem asking us why we shaved our heads...lol.
I'd be a little freaked out if a stranger approached me and started asking me questions about my haircut, wouldn't you?
I counldn't ask a stranger that question (or someone I knew for that matter). I just think it's funny how some people ask whatever is on their minds.

I have a confession to make....I thought about growing out my horseshoe (for a couple of weeks) and shaving my beard to honor my grandfather for his birthday which was November 11th.....but then, I realized that there were other ways to honor him without living outside myself so I didn't do it (at least not this time). In the end, though, if the wearer of said horseshoe is comfortable and confident with it, then who are we to knock it? Slymyke, unless your friend is a close friend who doesn't have thin skin, I'd leave it alone (there may be other circumstances besides laziness and/or an S/O issue)

That's a good thought, but he is shaving around his goatee (which is about the same length as his horseshoe). ---
He really doesn't look bad with it buzzed down, but I was just disappointed somewhat... as if we lost a member of the group or something...lol.
I shouldn't knock it, because it is my only other hair option... I am just so far removed from that look right now, I guess.

It would be a good penalty for someone who lost a bet -- grow out the horseshoe and wear it for a month!

That could be the title for a new sub-board - Horseshoe for a Month!

Guilty.
I'm letting it grow out the past 2 weeks, first time since I shaved ~7 months ago because I'm curious as to how much my MPB has progressed since I've shaved. I'm going to give it maybe 3 weeks to a month just to see what it looks like then shave it again.

Bet you won't be able to hold out that long.

I do get the curiosity. The only thing in this one case was that the horseshoe was so obviously well defined that there was nothing to be curios about....lol.

Every now and then I think about letting the horseshoe grow back a little just to see how much gray has set in. Then I quicky remind myself that I don't really want to know.

I can understand that. Because I don't have a horseshoe and there is some hair I sometimes think of growing it and hairstyles I could have. Then I look at pics and remember my rubbish hairline. I was buying a shirt yesterday and in the changing room in the mirror I was shocked how much my bald spot has expanded. Even shaved I could see the bald area. I have to say I wish the rest would go now
