Hey there fellas. I'm a 27 yr old black male who is thinning bad on top of my head. I'm extremely excited to began this new phase of my life going bald! I feel it will be a huge self esteem booster which I need because of the insecurities associated with thinning hair. Being a newbie on here how was is first making that huge decision to cut it all off and what were the reactions from Co workers, significant others and family?

Hi Lo,
Once I decided I wanted to try the bald look, and my s/o gave me the green light, I could not stop thinking about it. I had a full head of hair so I was really nervous and thought it was going to be a one time shave. Went to bed saying I would do it the next day, and couldn't sleep all night, so got up at 4 am and shaved it. I was shocked, but to my surprise, nobody else thought it was a big deal. The s/o said she liked it, and said keep it shaved for awhile! Almost everyone thought it looked great, and I had a whole new attitude. Really glad I did it, and many think I look younger without the grey hair. Good luck, I hope you like it.

Some people might be surprised but that's to be expected. They are probably used to you having hair your whole life. But I would say after about a month everyone, including you, will be used to it. I promise you'll come to love it. Way better than thinning hair.

Hi Lo: Welcome to the sly fraternity. Glad that you joined us. Once you do the deed. . . I can guarantee that you are going to love it. As far as reactions from family, friends, and co-workers. . . when my beautiful wifey saw my new "hairdo" she immediately gave me my 1st head rub and continues to give me daily head rubs.

My wife, family, friends, and co-workers like the look. I only had one negative comment from a co-worker.
Good luck and keep us posted to your road to slyness. For me the sly life gets better each and every day. The sooner you do it the better.

I definitely had hair my whole life even a huge afro in high school so it'll be a big adjustment. I started thinning on top of my head two years ago and couldn't believe it. I just came to the conclusion last week that theres no way I'm fighting to save this anymore. I'm a little nervous more anxious and excited so is my fiance! Thanks for the support once again fellas its greatly appreciated. I'll keep you posted!

We're rooting for you, Lo.
The tour bus driver that came to our office this week, bringing a group of Senior Citizens (himself 70), was African American. SBG for YEARS. Earring. And just a super friendly guy.
We resonated immediately. Had a nice conversation. There are so many bald heads around here, both black and white.
It's a really good look. I'd say, you don't have to wait a few weeks to shave your head bald. Just do it. You'll really like it. Won't want to go back to hair.
Welcome. Looking forward to your event. Post a picture, and join the conversation.
