Well, looks like the Roids are taking center stage again.
While I'm not a big fan of the WWE (I used to watch it when it was the WWF because my sons were big fans), I am shocked by the turn of events in recent days.
I'm quite sure that you have heard by now of the murder/suicide of Benoit and his family. My oldest son is a Benoit (pronouced Ben-Wah) fan.
3 lives lost. Was Roid Rage the factor? Thats what they're looking into now. But I disagree. I agree with the WWE when they say that Roid Rage was not the factor.
He killed his wife on Friday. Being a professional wrestler herself, she probably fought back, resulting in a head injury they found. After getting her tied up, no doubt he started using a modified "sleeper hold", placing his knee on her back while applying upwards pressure on her neck. A typical submission hold but used in a fatal fasion. Resulted in the bruise found on the small of her back during her autopsy and the strangulation finding.
If "Roid Rage" was the factor, he would have beaten her to death, and probably destroy every stick of furniture in the office.
His son was killed on Saturday, using a standard choke hold. Same thing applies, he would have caught a beating.
He calls WWE several times on Friday (after his wife was dead) arranging a flight to make the PPV in Texas. He could not make the Saturday night gig because of a "family emergency". He sounded very tired and groggy, and tells one of the WWE employees that he "loves them".
He kills his son on Saturday, mills around the house for the day with his day old dead wife laying in an office and his 7 year old son laying face down in his bed. He then sends several text messages using his and his wifes cell phones early Sunday morning. He places bibles next to the bodies and then probably soon afterwards, hung himself on his weight machine.
This is not your typical Roid Rage episode. The Rage passes after several hours, not days, and is typically violent. The furniture would have probably been destroyed. And the bibles would have probably been torn in half instead of being placed next to the bodies.
For the first time I agree with Vince McMahon on something. These were not the effects of a Rage episode. It was a methodical, thought through murder/suicide. I have no pitty for Chris Benoit. In my book, he is a baby killer who would have been given the death penelty had he been arrested and gone to trial. The only difference between him and some no-name baby killing scumbag, is the fact that Benoit was a celebrity. I am glad that the WWE has stripped it's website of his "Talent Profile", news items, and merchandise. And before the beginning of last nights show, McMahon said his name will not even be spoken once during the show.
I am sorry if I may insult Benoit fans, but consider what he did. Using a choke hold normally used on grown men that weigh as much as he does, on a little boy. I don't care how great he was in the ring, he had no business placing a fatal choke hold on a 7 year old little boy suffering from dwarfism. As tragic of a fact that he killed his wife as well, at least she stood a chance to survive by fighting back. A 7 year old can't.
He should have just hung himself first.
Rot in Hell Benoit.

God Bless the wife and child.
I will never watch "WWE" the same way again.
