How Did You Get Here?

Our recent geographic poll impressed me with the diverity of this forum and all that its members bring to it. This got me to thinking about what brought each of us here. For me, I was Bald By Choice as a result of a charity event and found to my surprise I enjoyed the look and feel of being bald. However I was getting quite a bit of flak from some people over my choice. I began looking for information on head shaving and whether other guys out there found this a good choice as well. Quite honestly I just stumbled upon this forum through HeadShaver.org I posted up asking a few questions about shaving and keeping the dome shaved, received honest answers and great support for staying sly and I hopped on board. So what is your story? How did you find and end up joining this awesome group of people?

Paul, My story is similar (if you leave out the charity event and the totally BBC part). I found the site through headshaver.org one day as I was surfing. I was losing alot of hair and really liked the idea of the completely shaved look. Just one small problem, I never could actually bring my self to "pull the trigger" or "do the deed". Looking back, I just needed a little encouragement and support. Just what this site seems to be best at!!!

I was getting depressed on losing hair so I was actually browsing info about Hair Transplants. I was hoping to find some unbiased information about hair transplants. It seems that you only hear the success stories and it's always through a sales and marketing approach by the Dr's who peform this.
So long story short I was skeptical about those sort of procedures... as I should be. Well on page 48 of a google search I came across a link to slybaldguys.com and after reading everyones stories I am convinced Im going to let mother nature run its course. and though I am not sly now, I know in my head that when the times come I will shave the head and wave good-bye to the comb, gel etc... Before reading this site I thought the shaved head thing was for a limited amount of people who could pull it off. Now I know that anyone can do it and it is deffinatly better than the other options.

My story is similar yet different. I had worn a "hair system" for 23 years. It was really starting to bug me. About 2 months ago, I was awake in the middle of the night and got on the computer. I googled "how to shave your head". After some stumbling around the search responses, I found SBG. I secretly trolled around the board for about 3 weeks reading everyone's posts. I went sly June 8 and have loved every minute of it. Without sounding corny, this was a great find for me - the posts, honest discussions and support has indeed changed my life for the better.

Same as Paul here. I was checking out headshavers.org to get some tips about head shaving and checked this link out. Glad I did.

Being a fan of the look, I'm always intriqued why other dudes have choosen the look to ( still not the norm, which is a cool thing

)...
Tyler put the word out to all the "bald" places and I decide to lurk for a while. I'm a visual guy, so the large avatars and pics made it more "one on one" communication with other dudes sportin' my similar look....
So that's how i got to the "SLY" side of things..on how I got to the slick side...I've thought it was cool/interesting look since i was a kid....
put it this way , as a kid I always thought the lead elf on "Ruldolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" had a way cool look...bald head and bottom goatee...very beatnik cool look!

Found it the night after i shaved on a whim. Wish i could have found it just a day earlier to read all the advice and make the first shave easier...

i actually ended up here because tyler did a search for "THE BEST LOOKING BALD GUY IN THE WORLD" and he got my myspace profile. just had to invite me. oh wait that is my version. what really happened, i think, is he sent me an add request cause i was on the friends list of headblade. then felt sorry for me and let me hang around.

Blondeguy led me hear like the Pied Piper.

I do owe him for this as I never really considered shaving my head before as I thought I couldnt pull it off. I never considered buzzing my head as I thought I couldnt pull it off. After about a month on this forum I buzzed my head.
If it wasnt for him maybe I would be stuffing my body with more and more drugs, and maybe getting depressed again about losing my hair
