Well, if you were in the military, you would have no option. They would just get the clippers out, no guard, and buzz your head to match everyone else.
You're not in the military, but you could still just do it. It's low maintenance, little or no shampoo. Does not look greasy. It's not out of style.
You don't have to worry about a comb or bad hair day.
You may not be ready for the shaved head, but the buzzed gets close, and that's pretty cool. Give it some time. You'll want to go bald just to try it out. There are lots of young guys on this site that have done just that and really like it.

When I started the barber did about a #4. After a few months I thought it cost too much so I bought my own clippers.
Quickly went to #3. Then #2, then curious, and went to #1.
On a summer vacation, I left the guards at home and just buzzed with no guard. That was my favorite. It was not long and I got the razor blade out and you see me today. I love the FEEL of a bald head. And I get great compliments on the look, too.

Hmm lots to think about, I guess Im not even sure it'll look good on me, but do you think a 3 would be a good start? Sounds lame but I wish someone could just photoshop a picture for me LOL

Wish someone could help you with that dude. Honestly best option is just take the plunge and do it. Im sure a trip to the barbers for a quick buzz would be no problem or even do it yourself at home. And PS that military idea sounds good for him LOL lets put you in ROTC for the haircut ; )

Go for a buzz -- #1 would look good and feel great. Probably get a barber to do it first to make it neat and then in time do it yourself to save money.

It's all relative -- it's not short compared to shaved. Ok, on second thought go for a #2. Remember it's not permanent and you might as well make a change that is big enough to be meaningful.

haha yeah, a number 2 might work better. What would that length be like? and I think any buzz will be a big change for me. Ive never shaved or buzzed my hair before

#2 is 6 mm or about a quarter of an inch -- long enough so you won't look bald at all and so it won't take too long to grow out if you want to do that. #3 is 3/8 inch.
