I went sly for the first time last night, did a touchup this morning.... I feel loads of rough spots right now and would love to lather up and go but don't want to irritate the skin too badly. This is probably a newbie problem too huh? How long should I wait before going at it again?
Thanks guys!

I shave my head once a day in the morning never twice in one day or it will irritate my skin

I'd resist the urge to shave it again. Since your new to head shaving you should allow your scalp some time to adjust to the new routine. As you get your routine down the patchy spots will become fewer and fewer.

Once a day is a good rule, at least for the first few weeks. Have to give your head time to adjust to being shaved or you'll get a ton of irritation. I shave twice a day some days now, because I can't stand the patchy feel, but even still most days it's just a once a day ritual.

Like Doug said, you are new and don't want to irritate it further. I would personally wait another day. Waiting wont hurt. Irritation will!

Yeah, gotta go with not more often than once a day initially.
I shave every morning (haven't missed a day yet) and only a couple of times have shaved in the evening before going out to something special.

Yep the rough, stubbly feel sucks. Good deal on waiting though. At least give it a week or so before trying a two-a-day. Stubbly is a lot less annoying than razor burned.

All you guys are "smoothists". All I hear is smooth, smooth, smooth.
Am I the only one that likes a bit of rough scratch? That's one of the reasons that I only go WTG.

Can't help it, bro. I can't speak for my fellow smoothists, but I am obsessed with perfectly smooth. I go WTG, ATG, XTG and any other angle needed. Drives me completely batty if I get all finished up and then rub the melon and find even the tiniest spot that isn't smooth when rubbed from a given direction.

Well, then you better boot up the rolling razor and give that a try. One of the demo videos of that shows shaving WTG, ATG and XTG left and XTG right. You can't do much more than that.
There must be something wrong with me. After I shave the brain-box I like to run my hand over it WTG to feel how smooth it is and then ATG to feel the roughness. If I find any rougher spots I missed then I just think "I'll get it tomorrow". Maybe that's what comes from living in the bush where I don't see anyone and no-one sees me in a normal day?

I have to agree with Voodoo on that love the smooth feeling
