All responses have been positive so far, today I ran into an acquaintance (also mpb) I hadn't seen since going sly, he patted my head and said it was a nice looking haircut. I was a little taken aback and then proceeded to use it as an opportunity to tell the virtues of going sly...
Any similar first time reactions from other non sly mpb? -

Not for me but I did get a lot of people rubbing my head....it is a good feeling too....and loved it

One of the fellows who encouraged me to go bald gives me a head rub in lieu of a handshake. He can do that.
I'll be seeing him next week.
Wife is always welcome to give a head rub.

For a while, one of my colleagues rubbed my head every morning to check for smoothness. -

I got my first head-rub about day 3, from a very cute young lady, (a cashier at our local market), I gotta say that at my age it felt very good and was much appreciated.
