Hi, and welcome. Not really related to being bald... at all, but you're from the Orkney Islands... so have you ever heard of the Nuckelavee? It's a folkloric monstrosity, also known as the Sea Devil of Orkney Islands. It's gruesome. And awesome.

Wow - thanks for the warm welcome guys

Tom - yes the Nuckelavee is an old folk tale here - also there another involving a huge serpent called the Stoorworm. if anyone is interested in finding out more about Orkney then I can recommend this website
http://www.orkneyjar.com/ And if you'd like to hear the Orkney dialect then Radio Orkney is the place to go (you might even hear me reading the news

)

G'day Dave, welcome to the family!
I'm sure you'll fit in nicely around here, I look forward to reading your wise words of wisdom!
G'Day Dave
Welcome to Sly Bald Guys and the brotherhood.
Take a look around, enjoy the facilities. The swimming pool, jacuzzi and games room are their way.
Then this place will be rocking!!!
And the membership kit with the jar of Vegemite should be available soon.
Free Vegemite is the best kind of vegemite... well any vegemite is good vegemite. Except for that cheesy thing they tried to introduce... that was NOT vegemite...

I have vegemite for lunch every day. It just occurred to me that with its soft and smooth consistency it might make an acceptable shaving lubricant in an emergency. Mind you, it would have to be a pretty dire emergency. And any nicks would sting a bit. Might sort the men from the boys.

Awesome. I'll have to introduce myself to this Stoorworm, then. I'd say here in nice and snowy North America, a cultural equivalent to the Nuckelavee would be the Wendigo... are you into folklore personally, or are people more connected with old stories where you're from?
