The problem with any hair loss "solution", whether it is a hairpiece, transplant, hair in a can or even a hat worn all the time, is that it allows the wearer to avoid dealing with the "problem" and prevents him from accepting it. It really ceases to be a problem once one stops trying to hide it.

You make a good point. And one not lost on me.
In the last few weeks, noticed how my hairline is disappearing on the top of my head. The widow's peak is collapsing and a sand dune is appearing on top where once there was shadow.
In another world, by now I might have reached for their hair in a can, or a hat. Instead I came across this forum - perfect timing.

At the time I started shaving my head, I had lost a lot of hair at the hairline but none at the crown, which can create a very awkward look, IMO. I don't like the look of a severely receded hairline and a lot of thick hair behind it. I started shaving before my widow's peak was fully decimated to avoid that look. The widow's peak disappeared shortly after I started shaving, but the line of demarcation where the hairline started, almost on the top of my head, was a continued cause of annoyance. It disappeared within a few months as I continued to lose hair, and I was very, very happy when it was gone. Probably one of those things that nobody else noticed, but it was something I really hated. -

Can we have 'beard in a can' as well, please ?
I was actually wondering if anyone had tried using it for that purpose.
The only canned product for hair that I need & buy is shaving gel.
Does the product have a tag "don't try this at home"?

I first noticed that my hairline was creeping back in 1989, when shaved heads were still a rarity. It would never have crossed my mind to shave my head in those days, and I was actually worried that the process might stall and that I'd be perpetually stuck in a "halfway to horseshoe" mode, as you so aptly called it. The prospect of being bald really didn't bother me very much; it was the long, drawn-out process of getting there that was worrying. If I were a balding 20-something today, I wouldn't hesitate to shave early on instead of waiting for Mother Nature to take her slow and sloppy time. -

I have to say, I'm in the same boat as Mr J, I started shaving due to recession and thinning at the front, but it is quickly disappearing, and the halfway look isn't great, but I'm happy and confident. I also wondered if this was beard friendly.

How can you turn sparse scalp hairs and shiny scalp into thick hair ? A friend of the family used to use the Legendary TV pitchman Ron Popeil's GLH Hair Paint spray in a can and his whole top of scalp had a shiny black sheen. So the guy then went to a full toupee. He's now 75 years old with this thick black rug with a low hairline of a 17 year old. In the back? His own gray nape hairs stick out from under the black hair rug. LOL !
