Thanks for posting the link. It's a good article!
I started a thread shortly after going sly about the change I noticed in strangers' reaction to me as a sly guy. People were acting more deferential - like letting me go through the door first, calling me "sir", small stuuf like that. The study helps explain why that was so.

My husband read that headline from the internet news feed this morning, then laughed derisively, so I beat him up.

Just kidding guys!

I had to laugh when I read...I know that guys with shaved heads often look the part of tough dudes, but I've recently run into a couple that could be pushed over with a feather.

I'm not totally in agreement, but it does counter the unassailable fact that a balding head is a very public announcement of a gradual decline in our manhood--once shaved that decline is put to the lie. Perhaps if "tougher and more powerful" is just another way of saying the guys who have shaved their heads in response to mpb have clearly and unambiguously said that they're not in decline at all, control their lives, appearance, and to the extent possible their fate then, yes tougher, powerful and in absolutely no way subject to any gradual decline.

Oh, so true.
Before I shaved the head I was a peasant in the hinterlands, struggling to eke out a bare existence. Once the hair was off, it was only an eyeblink before I was a planetary ruler. Nuf sed.

Goes to show how much people are judged by appearance. ...Good thing we're on the positive side of that.

Nuf sed fer sure...Many of us are glad that the smoking hot Princess Aura doesn't share the likeness of her mighty, but homely father, Ming the Mirthless.

I do believe this is correct by what I have seen over the years. I have dark brown eyes and I have been told with a shaven head and pearcing dark browns people tend to back off when I haven't got the twinkle !

I sent the link to a friend who is balding. He buzzes his hair very short, but not shaved.
I suspect he'll shave some day.
