@Garrett: Congrats on your 1st SE SOTD... you are going to love your SE shaves.

Had shave number 2 yesterday. It felt a little rough. Not sure if it was technique, or if the SE isn't quite going to work as well as a daily shaver. I skipped today, so I can give it a try again tomorrow with an extra day's growth for comparison. I should probably go out and pick up some of the drugstore blades for comparison as well. I have heard that some like the carbon steel and stainless steel varieties better than the PTFE coated.
I also had a very generous B&B member offer me his extra shovel head, so I'll be giving that a go after I've used the bullet tip for a week or so.
Hi Garrett: Of course YMMV but when I shave with vintage SE razors, for me I get better results with the GEM PTFE blades. Post some pics my friend, you know how I like to see shaving pics.

Here's your pic Warhawk, although I only used the SE for the first pass today. I had 3 days of growth, and either the SE really doesn't work with that much, or the blades don't last nearly as long as I've been lead to believe. It was only number 4 with that blade though. I set it down after pass one and finished the next two passes with my NEW LC and an Astra SP.
Hi Garrett: Nice SOTD pic, my friend. Sorry you were not able complete the entire shave with your vintage SE. When I use a vintage SE razor... I always do 10 palm strops on each side of the GEM blade prior to shaving to ensure "sharpness". BTW... how do you like the Cold River Soap?

I've heard that recommendation for SE blades before, so yes, I've been trying that. Hopefully it was just the amount of growth. I got the shovel head, so I'll be giving that a go this week.
I still can't decide what I think of the Veg based Cold River Soap Works. It lathers up a little airy, but as long as you take your time loading, it does produce a good lather. It doesn't seem quite as slick as some of my others. I'm struggling with my combination skin right now. It's dehydrated and oily at the same time. The Cold River soap does seem to hydrate a little better than my others.

Razor: Mongoose B1 w/ Jurgen Hempel Handle
Blade: Feather Professional
Soap: TIKI Bar Soap: Sandalwood
Brush: Simpson Duke 3
Dessert: Ice cube rub, refrigerated WH, refrigerated Clubman Pinaud
It has been awhile since I used the TIKI Bar Shave Soap and I am glad that I did because this is a great performing shave soap that is made in the great ole USA. It lathers thick, provides great protection and glide and the scent is invigorating. Love it and I highly recommend this soap. Amanda of TIKI Bar Soap provides great customer service.

@Warhawk Mel, is the Mongoose taking over completely?
Since I got my Slim Adjustable nothing else is getting a chance!
After my second DE razor shave today, my head is on fire !
Hey, Grizzly92, have you tried rubbing your head with an ice cube after shaving? What's your prep routine?
Hi,
i've an Alum Block as after shave. My prep is with a basic brush and cream Palmolive. My DE is a Feather Popular with Gillette Blue and next time Feather blade.
DE shaving is a skill which has to be learned, whether on the head or face. Let it heal then try again. Switching equipment all the time will stop you learning the craft.
Friday night, November 28, 2014 SOTD
I've won a Fatboy in a PIF a while back that hasn't gotten much attention. I was feeling brave tonight so I decided to give it a go wide open at 9. Wow. Minus the 3 nicks, this is the type of shave I was hoping for when I switched to DE back in June. Awesome. I was near BBS with one WTG pass plus touch up and no irritation. I haven't come anywhere close to that with my 37c or my NEW. Evidentally I need more blade exposure.
Prep: Hot Shower with Benzoyl Peroxide wash
Pre: Noxzema
Razor: Fatboy @ 9
Blade: Astra SP (2)
Lather: CRSW Classic Nouvelle Fougere
Brush: Omega 49
After: Clindamycin Rx
Hi Garrett: Glad that you had a great shave with the Fatboy.
