Well, i did it -took the DE to my scalp. I gotta say, it was easier and less bloody than I thought it would be. A closer shave than I've gotten with my mach3 or headblade, too. I think the extra heft helped cut through some of the stubble. Finally, it seemed to go faster than my usual mach3 in the shower routine. Must be the reduced rinsing time...
This morning: (head shave)
Tweezerman brush
Head slick lathered up on my brush
Edwin Jagger DE87bl razor
Derby Extra blade
Bump patrol
Will definitely do that again.

Last night's relaxing shave...
Face shave: sink
Razor: FaTip
Blade: Astra SP
Soap: William's Shaving Soap
Brush: Semogue 620
Dome shave: shower
Razor: Weber DLC
Blade: Astra SP
Soap: William's Shaving Soap
Brush: Semogue 620
Finished with an ice cube rub and a cool splash of Osage Rub
This was my very first time using the William's Shaving Soap puck. It was cheap at $1.49 at my local Publix's Grocery Store. It was very inexpensive so I was very curious. For only $1.49 I cannot lose. Guess what.... it exploded with some serious lather using my shaving brush and provided decent cushion. It wasn't better than my favorite Mike's Natural Soap but for only $1.49 and ability to purchase locally it was a win-win. Will I use it again (of course).

I have the brush and a merkur already. And a Gillette DE too. Ordered some more 4711, clubman and lucky tiger aftershave...olgallala bay rum soap, ceramic shave cup and a tube of proraso. I'd like to get a nice razor and/or brush stand next but don't know which one fits my gear. Did i miss anything?

My SOTD yesterday was the same as Friday, except I used the Headblade and Bump patrol as after shave. Awesome stuff - Bump Patrol!
This is such a cool thread Warhawk.
My next shaving soap purchase will be the "Williams shaving stick" if you are in a bit of a rush, you can quickly rub it on the beard or head stubble, rub with the brush, and shave away! Great value, and I am chuffed that it is still available here albeit in the plastic stick container.
I still admire the variety and price of shaving gear available to you guys in the US.

Today's face shave : Vitos pre shave, Proraso shave soap, omega boar, cobra classic with Dorco blade, witch hazel, Osage rub.
Head: Lord DE with Derby blade, headslick (not a big fan though, I find the lather dissipates so quickly), after shave products as with face.

Well, I had a pretty awful experience shaving today
I only changed a couple things about my routine. I only used a VDH soap puck with a few drops of glycerin for lather instead of my usual ToBS Sandalwood or superlather combo of both. I also skipped the Shave Secret. I used a new Astra blade and made a great lather with the puck, but I think I was just going too fast. I ended up with 3 or 4 nicks that were pretty bad bleeders.
I probably should have taken more time and gone slower. I guess it's just a lesson in patience!

Last night's shave:
Head (in the shower):
Razor: HeadBlade
Shave Soap : HeadSlick
Brush : Wally World Special
Face (at the sink):
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89L
Blade: Personna Platinum
Shave soap: RazoRock XXX
Brush: Vulfix 1001
After Shave: Brut After Shave Balm
This was my first shave with the Personna Platinum blade. I got a pretty nice shave with it although it did seem my skin was just a bit tender after shaving with it. The Derby blades ares till my favorite so far.
Side note.... while camping over the weekend I shaved my HEAD with the DE for the first time. Not a nick to mention but my shave had mixed results... silky smooth in some areas but quite a few missed spots too. I'm sure that with a little practice, this problem will disappear.
