Hello fellow chrome domes:
Hope every one had a fun and safe Fourth of July. With all the grilling the past couple days... I wanted 2 know your preference on grilling. Do U like charcoal or propane? I always enjoy this yearly topic.
I'll start. I prefer grilling with charcoal. I know it's messy and more difficult but I enjoy the final result. I love the taste of charcoal burgers, ribs, chicken, and sausages. So... how 'bout U? Do U prefer charcoal? Propane? What's your story? On a side note if anyone has the "The Big Green Egg"... please tell us your thoughts on The Big Green Egg.

I'm also a charcoal guy. I'm getting ready to "retire" my 12 year old Weber and get a new one. The old one is just worn out.
Lump, hadrwood charcoal ignited in a chimney.... no flammable fluid taste on my meat!!!

Propane - so I can grill year round here in the northeast. I have a 14 year-old Weber Genesis that just keeps going and going.

I cook either direct over coals--grilling, or off to the side, with or without smoke chips.

You can't beat charcoal for taste, and if you use fire lighters or fluid then you need to learn how to bbq properly, no chemicals thank you! However you can't beat propane for convenience, so I do whatever I have time for.

You can't beat propane for convenience, but I have an old standard weber grill which takes only charcoal. We can use it year round here in NC.

No preference....unfortunately. I lost my grill as part of my recent divorce....but it's all good, the company bonus is coming next month...pay a few bills and then it's grill shopping time!

Just kiddin. I prefer charcoal, of course! Food cooked over propane just seems kind of... bland to me. Slybear, I want some of what you were workin on there!
