My ears

Hey guys... I've been toying with the idea of going "sly", ran across this site a few weeks ago. I'm 23 and have been going bald since around 18. Tried the pills for a while but then I just got sick of it. The problem that I'm having is that I don't like my ears- they are weirdly shaped and I'm just worried that if I go bald they will be basically the only thing people notice.
What do you guys think. Shave don't shave? Help.
Thanks

Ears are a very important factor in whether or not you should shave. Here is what I say: Shave. Give it a month (so you can adjust). See what you think. It's just hair, brother, it'll grow back.
..and honestly, people are going to notice your ears either way. I wouldn't worry much about it if I were you. Just be comfortable in your own skin.

welcome baldinginchi, the "sly" look almost always looks better than balding. If you can sport a goatee, that will help take the focus off of ears. You can try to cut it off gradually and see how it looks, no matter what it will grow back if you don't like it. Good luck. You've come to the right place for advice and support.

baldinginchi, welcome to Sly Bald Guys! I think a lot of guys will agree with me when I say that after shaving my head, most people focus on my eyes when they talk to me. There's nothing else that they can look at it.

Go for it! Going sly will take attention away from your ears. Without dark hair surrounding them, they'll blend in with the surrounding skin. We've all had things we thought would stand out after shaving. Like us, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for the advice guys-you all are definitely pushing me one step closer to busting out the clippers and doing the deed.
I already have a pretty tan face so I think if I go through with it I'll need some time to adjust/tan.

Welcome baldinginschi, glad you found us. Go sly man and no one will notice your ears The focus will be on how confidently you carry yourself and how self assured you seem.

I can't really add much to what the others have said. Just go for it bro and if it doesn't seem like it fits you after about a month then just let it grow back. But I have a feeling you'll love it. Good luck and stick around here for lots of great support.

Welcome baldinginschi! Give it a try. Going SLY may redirect attention somewhere else, like the eyes. My ears stick out like love handles, but I'm stayin SLY.

I'll just add my voice to what the others have said. First of all, welcome. Glad you found us. I think you'll find a great group of guys to hang out with here and also get alot of support.
I think you should just go for it and give it a try. Everyone of us has something we don't like about ourselves or that we think just looks weird. Part of being SLY is getting comfortable in you own skin and with what you have to work with. I'm just in my 3rd week and I'm still getting used to myself without and hair (even though there was very little before). But I don't think I'll ever go back. SLY is truly the way to go.
What ever you decide, I wish you the best and look forward to hearing more from you.

Like Funnelweaver said...people (if they are going to anyways) already notice your ears....why not try a look that YOU seem to want to have...who knows maybe going to the slick , sly side will actually take away attention from them!
I don't think they look that bad...but i know how those things are very personal..
I save shave your head clean...like all of us, you'll be much happier!

Hey guys, thanks so much for all the advice. I've decided I am going to do it-but now I keep finding reasons to delay when I should do it. Any suggestions for taking the plunge?
Thanks

Don't think about it. Just walk into your bathroom and run the clippers through the center of your head. Then there's no turning back.
