Hey everyone, my name is Nickie and Im a 17 year old guy from the pacific northwest. I've been debating shaving my head but can't seem to get myself to do it. It's something I've always had the urge to do and with my parents gone for the weekend, now might be the perfect time to do it. I know that we have a pair of clippers around the house somewhere and I guess it would kinda fulfill a fantasy of my to shave my head (strange, I know) So what do you guys think, is now the time? Should I go for it? By the way I've never shaved my head before, or even had a buzz cut because I've always been nervous to do it.

Do it!
It's only hair!

It will grow back if you don't like it!

I agree with Lynchy!! You only live once mate and if you don't like it, it will grow back. Plus it will be very liberating and more than likely give you a big confidence boost. That's what going sly did for me

You guys are right, it would be very liberating for me to do this. But I guess it's actually shaving the head that's the biggest hurdle, more so then the aftermath of it all. How did you guys get over that part? Because I could stand in front of the mirror, clippers going and still hesitate

Nickie, you really should go for it. Trust me, you'll have fun once you get pass those first couple of swipes with the clippers and once it's all done you'll feel incredibly liberated. Man up and do it Nickie, you'll love it. And as far as getting pass the first moment of no return, all you have to know is just keep going and breath.

Congrats!
Basic what to do!
Clipper as much off as possible (no guard).
Hot shower and wash your head well with whatever is handy but give it a good scrub!
Apply shaving cream and then shave.... Slowly I might add! I started with one pass with the grain until I got the hang of it!
Probably in front of the mirror would be easiest. Also a fresh blade if you have it on hand.
Once your done back in the shower for a cold rinse for as long a you can stand it. Even rub an ice cube on if it feels sore.
Mousturiser or aftershave balm of some sort.
Sit back and enjoy being awesome!

It's something I've always had the urge to do
Then do it.
Should I go for it?
See above.
If you don't shave your head, you'll
always be wondering. Even if you do decide to grow it back, you can always say to yourself "I shaved my head".

Well once you do it you will find it addictive , my advice is be upfront with your parents and just say this is the style your going for , dont ask them? Or the other alternative is do it for charity create value out of your desire and keep it shiny .

Something that we've kinda skipped over so far is the fact that you're thinking of doing this while your parents are away. This tells me that they may not approve or, at least, you don't think they will. SO, as you're 17 and still living under your parents roof and subject to their rules, ridiculous as they may seem, you might consider speaking with them about this.
Unless, of course, you already have. Then I go along with everyone else and say scrape that grape and love it.
