MIxed reactions.

I started shaving my head a little more than a week ago. I've been losing my hair for a while now but i still had plenty. It was definitely more of an issue for me than anyone else because most people would tell me that I wasn't going bald until I started pointing out the problem areas and then they'd be like "oh yeah, wow I didnt notice that." So I made the decision to attack the baldness before it attacked me. Now people just meeting me for the first time actually say I wear it pretty well and my girlfriend thinks it looks good which I guess is the most important person but I hate the reaction I get from a lot of the people that are used to seeing me with hair and it goes something like this. "WHY DID YOU DO THAT!" They tell me that I didn't need to. Pretty annoying. I'm sure that a lot of you guys felt the same way I did before I shaved my head. I was always afraid someone would take off my hat when I was wearing one. I hated jumping in the water because of how crazy thin it looked when it was wet. And I hated wind cuz it totally messed up my strategic hair gel job and how calculated each hair was placed. But most of all those damn facebook pictures that People would put me in where the angle was just perfect for people to say, "oh sh*t he's going bald." I dont think any of these people with the "why" reaction could even understand. I definitely feel liberated but I need to just see all the people already that are used to my hair and get it over with! Just venting.

Boy, does that sound familiar! Congratulations on making the right decision. It's best to just get it over with, even if others think you don't "have to" yet.

Welcome. You look good. I went through the same exact thing. I wanted to do it before I absolutely had to and I'm glad I did. They'll all get over it

elo and welcome.
time will fix that. Many of us get negative reactions, it's not you, it's them whom can not deal with the idea of change.

Looking good there, Rob. Scars, moles, and other assorted imperfections actually add character to the sly look.
As hard as it is to hear people moan about YOUR head (which is YOUR choice to do what you want to with it), it's their issue, not yours.
Be you. Learn to trust that. It's your life and you're the one who has to live it, not them.

Rob, if you were going bald already, you HAD a reason for shaving your head. When someone questions you, you've got a good reason!
For those of us BBC, we don't have the reason, "well, I was going bald anyway". For us the 'Why did you do that', is probably a more legitimate question!
You sport the bald head well. Looks very manly. Wear your bald head proudly. It's quite a stylish look today. Notice the number of men in the community who also sport bald heads. When you look, you'll see more that perhaps you noticed before. Bald is such a refreshing look/style.

Congratulation and welcome. Growing up I used to be very self concience about what people said about me. He this and he that. Then it suddenly hit me. This is me and I like myself. It is no one business who I am. Since going Bald by choice, never did I cared what people said. I would just ignore them and the problem stopped. If you continue the conversation about why you are shaving your head, it will never go away. Just be yourself, if you like the look which I know you do just enjoy it. Yes it feels liberating and it great not to have any hair. I'm loving it and I don't have to worry about wind, pools or any other thing that would affect hair. I'm having the time of my life without hair. But I still have a head full of it.

Welcome aboard and enjoy.

I think it looks great. Some people are just rude with their comments and like things the way they've always been. It's your head and you get to make the decisions about it. As long as you are comfortable is all that matters. I'm glad to hear your GF is supportive.
