We now have an Akita that we got from Midwest Akita Rescue not long after we lost our other 2. He was 3 or 4 when we got him (the rescue place wasn't sure of his age) but we've had him for 6 years so he's getting up there. Beautiful dog and extremely friendly, super protective of the grandkids.
When his time comes I'm pretty sure we'll stay with the breed.
The pic I posted here is not our dog but, again, this is exactly how he looks.
nice as far

Here's the dog I'm currently working with.
I'm working on Agresivity for now, but also on discipline (that does my colleague

Right! But I couldn't tell from the picture if it was a boy or girl, ha, ha, ha.
crazy ass b*tch!
I disagree. It's her money, she can spend it as she pleases. How does this make her a bitch?
My family had all sorts of dogs when I was growing up. Mostly mutts, a beagle/basset hound mix, and a purebred harlequin Great Dane. The Great Dane was my favorite. She lived to be 12 or 13 (avg life expectancy is 8 or 9 I think). Whenever I decide to have my own dog I'm almost certain I'll get another Dane or some other kind of big dog.
Dogs are one of my favorite things in this world, and I think they know it. On more occasions than I can count, and to their owners' amazement, I've had otherwise skittish or "aggressive" dogs come to me to be petted. They invariably say "I've never seen him/her just go up to someone like that."
Dogs and I are on some kind of "level" and I feel like we have an understanding. Some of my close friends call me "the dog whisperer"
My dog is Ozzy, He is a blond lab who is 5 years old.
Here is one from when he was a pup
