Shaving gel problems

Hey
So for the last couple of shaves I have noticed that my shaving gel tends to dry out pretty quickly forcing me to add more shave gel to increase lubrication before I shave the area. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions? I'll keep working at it. Day 16 is tomorrow so that means I am over the hump.

I use headslick for shaving cream. It always dries out. Once I lather up, I have to dip my fingers in the water and splash on my head, and then about 1/2 way through the shave I re-splash. I think you'll find it's common.
Keep it up, I know you already love it.

Buy a shaving brush, use it to lather up and keep it at hand with lather in it during your shave. It's a much more effective way to remoisten than with your hand. I suggest an entry level badger brush ($15) but a cheap boar bristle one (5 bucks or so at Bed Bath and Beyond) is adequate.

Thanks for the responses guys. I appreciate that you guys who have been doing this for a while still check the beginners forum to offer advice. I use Edge UltraSensitive Shaving Gel which has worked pretty well so I might stick with it for now, but I was looking into getting a shaving brush if that would help. I see they can get pretty expensive. Where could I get one for 15 bucks. I saw that CVS had some. Thanks

I got my badger on amazon - it's not fancy but it was about 15 bucks.

Hey thanks for the link sailor 61. I'll look into getting one of these and keep you guys posted. I definitely look forward to the time when I can say I've been sly for months and not days!

I use head slick and apply it with a shaving brush. I wet the brush with hot water first and let the water drip out before applying headslick. You could also use a little aloe vera mixed withe the shaving cream to give you more moisture.

Hey guys,
I just want to say thanks for the advice and help. It's really cool seeing people post that I saw when I used to be a lurker (those were some sad days

). Tomorrow will be day 21 of my 30 day rule challenge. Things have gone great and shaving is becoming more natural with everyday. I really feel like my scalp is getting adjusted to being shaved everyday, although I think after day 30 I might downgrade to shaving every other day to save some money. I don't have any questions right now, but I just wanted to say thanks. Day 30 here I come!
