Okay, first things first, Im not ready to go sly(just yet), I want to buzz my hair down to a 1 or 2, BUT my problem is that my hair is thin and receeded so Im worried that my hair will look spacious and stupidly thin when buzzed down.
I was just wondering if any of you have had this experience or have any pics, etc so I can see what it looks like. Cheers
p.s. the receeding isnt really a problem, its the thinning

I think our fearless leader T or Schrojak would be the best ones to answer that question.

I buzzed it down to a #1 and wore it that way for a few weeks during RamaHanuKwanzMas (holidays, 2006). Got a lot of compliments on the look. Yeah, I was thinning on top, and I have (er, had) blonde hair. It's a good intermediate step for a few weeks. The day of the shave, I buzzed it without a guard then after going running, I shaved it clean.

ok that sounds like the type of thing I want. You got any pics of it long and then buzzed to a 1? I am just very curious

I thought it looked good, but I think the SLY look is better.

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but if you're really thinning, then shorter is better. You want to expose some skin on the sides to draw attention away from the thinning on top. If you go with a #2, your sides will still be pretty thick and you'll be left with more of an MPB effect. My only other suggestion is to take it down to a #2 and see how you like it, and if you don't, take it down to #1.
We are only talking about a week's growing time between the two lengths. The worst that can happen is you won't be real happy with your hair for a week. Small price to pay in exchange for finding a look that you really will like.

Check out my before and after pics in the gallery. Buzzing does help - wore it that way (#1) for 1 year. Then went to a zero and finally started shaving.

Buzz it down. As usual, RazorX has words of wisdom. The worst thing you can do is attempt to grow it longer. Take it down to a #1 or #2; get comfortable with the look. Then, when you realize that bald is beautiful-- and inevitable--shave it all off. Let us know your progress. Professor Melon

You'll rock the buzzed/shaved look due to the shape of your face and your prominent jaw line.
