I'm 43 and live in Japan. I've been shaving since I was about 35 and have loved it since the first time. I knew I was losing my hair when I was about 18 but I went bald slowly and still had hair in my early 30s. I started shaving to nip my baldness in the bud and to prevent myself from getting one of those ridiculous hairstlyes you see lots of balding guys with.
As for shaving, despite doing it for years, I'm a bit of a novice as I just use a regular razor and hit the shower. I found this site as I do have a problem with a greasy scalp and was searching online for help. It looks like I could pick up a few tips here.

what mike said. oily scalp means dry it out with some alcohol base after shave be ready for the sting. depending on oil level maybe even a good every so often wipe down too.

Hey Morton, welcome!
I'm only two weeks in with this whole thing but I too have an oily dome and I'm finding the best thing is to just wash up several times a day. I use Neutrogena Men Invigorating Face Wash which is oil-free and does a good job of removing the slip 'n' slide. A little goes a long way. Soap and water if I'm not home. A lot of guys here swear by some of the wipes products, although with my needs, I'd rip through a container of those in no time. Just doesn't seem economically sound for me. YMMV.
