It's Nearly Time!

Hi Chaps
Greetings from the U.K. Well, it's nearly time for me. I've tried the lotions and miracle in a bottle formulas (they didn't work). Caught the back of my head in the mirror earlier and instead of my hair being combed forward it was combed back and I nearly collapsed from the two patches I saw at the back. I knew about the one but the other one just completely caught me unaware. It never shows with my hair forward.
Anyway, purely by chance I found this forum (perhaps it's a sign). Summer is coming here in the UK and I think it's time to face facts and do the right thing. I don't think I can handle going completely shaved just yet, need to go down in stages but enough that the two patches don't stand out a mile. They're not completely bald, just thin.
Anyway, just thought I'd introduce myself and say "Hi".
Carl.

Welcome Carl! I did the baby steps process too. Started with a #3 on my clippers and eventually got the shaving cream and razor out.

That's a great way to put it. Yes, I suppose it is. I kind of bitterly hate feeling like I need to do it but the reality is I do! I even caught myself looking at hair system websites recently and just kind of snapped out of it and thought "what the hell are you doing man? You're seriously considering wearing a glorified hairpiece?"
I've ordered my clipper kit tonight. Summer Holidays are on the way so it gives me a good 6 weeks out of work to take the plunge!
My humble apologies to the mods of this forum. I should probably have posted this "Hello" message in another part of the forum. Sorry.
Carl.

Welcome aboard Carl.
I first shaved my head at the beginning of summer here in the states a few years back and immediately put on some sun block and went for a ride in a convertible sports car with the top down! It was a weird, wonderful feeling and a start to one of the best summers of my life. Hope yours is at least as good.

Welcome to the Forum Carl! Good for you for ditching those rub on products!
More importantly, thank goodness you snapped out of it before you made the move to surgery. You will look great shaved. The baby steps process is a good one for guys worried about shaving.
Keep us posted on your progress.

hi,
looking at your facial features I think you are gonna look great sly!
Go for it, the sooner the better,
cause it is springtime and better if you start tanning your head immediately.
Sincerely
Sometimer

Welcome. Nice post about the feelings you get when you come to accept that your hair time is over and understand there is only one safe, sane way to handle it. Sly is the positive proactive approach without denial and without harm to your body or personal finances.

Uhh yeah, a glorified hairpiece that (depending on which you pick) could cause medical problems

It's a liberating feeling once you make that final step..........well, we're waiting!

Enjoy the process, you'll love the feeling of not worrying about thinning patches, hat head, and will gain a level of confidence you probably didn't know existed.

Thanks Gents for your kind replies.
I have a feeling it's not going to be as big a shock as I currently think. I mean, hey, it's not like I've got a head of hair like Michael Bolton circa 1992 at the moment anyway!
I'm strangely looking forward too it. I see it as a chance to make some changes for the better.
One of you mentioned confidence and that is probably the biggest thing to have taken a hammering due to thinning hair. It does dent my confidence quite badly and has done for a long time. Still, I guess there's only one way to deal with a bully and that's to fight back!
