A lot of iTunes albums come with a PDF file containing the liner notes, which download into the iTunes player along with the songs when an album is purchased. I recently copied my whole library to a new hard drive and for some reason, none of the PDF files are showing up in the iTunes player anymore. They are still on the hard drive and I can access them if I navigate to the right folder, but I can't get them into the iTunes player anymore. I've tried using the "Add A File to Library" and "Add a Folder To Library" functions and I've also tried dragging the icon into iTunes, none of which worked. I put the question out on an Apple support forum but no one has answered. Just wondering if anyone here had any ideas on how to fix this.
You would think, but it doesn't work. It might be something to do with the latest version of iTunes; it has a command that creates a lot of subfolders to help organize your library. I tried it and regretted it because it really messed a lot of things up. Maybe that's when the PDF files disappeared and I just didn't notice until I moved everything to the new drive.
iTunes may need to rebuild the library. I don't know if you can force this, but reinstall iTunes if necessary.
I had the same thing when I moved my library from my computer to an external drive. I am thinking it has something to do with the newest version also. If I find something i will share it with all.
I just figured it out. It does come back into iTunes if you drop and drag. However, it loses the detail with the artist and album name, so it doesn't appear next to the rest of the songs on the album. That's why I didn't see it. If you go into the "Recently Added" smartlist, you can find it at the very end -- then just edit the tags so it appears where it should.
