The Million Dollar Question...

Well I'm quite scared of going bald... terrified at the tought actually... so that is why I never cut my hair too short. It so happened that for some reason, the hairdresser yesterday decided to do it his own way, and cut my hair the shortest i've worn it since i was 5. And not only that! He then ran sheer-like scissors through my hairs and bloody and cut THROUGH the hairs... chop, chop, chop, chop... Bloody hell he then said 'it's quite short now, and well it's in fashion so i'm sure you don't mind'.
After taking a photo of my head, there it was - terrifyingly white skin staring straight at me. Could anyone mind assessing whether it's a bald spot or normal cow lick, since i'm so unaccustomed to looking this bare? My girlfriend insists that he chopped off too many hairs... There's no recession in the temple area...
And well I thought who better to ask then men who've embraced the prospect of going bald, and who can comfort you through it?

It looks like that's just where the part goes. You're good, that's a full head of hair my friend.

Hey man thanks for the reply
Well it would have been weird because all the men on my mother's side have a full head, and my father's hair only started thinning now he's 50. It's just that i've never seen that much skin, and I sincerely doubt I'd be able to pull it off if I shaved it off.

Absolutely a full head of hair. BTW it doesn't look short either unless you were really wearing it very long. If I had as much hair as you, I would still have it cut to about a zero to a 1/2, but I hate hair now.

It's short in comparison really. I doubt I'd pull off a zero to be frank. My scalp is too oddly shaped hehe.

I got me one of those patches though it seems to cover a much larger area of the head

I don't think you're going bald. Don't worry as if you ever do you now know to shave it, you'd be suprised that it would probably be a good look, no one can really gather wether it suites them until they up and do it. For a long time I never would have thought it would be a look for me, but nature forced its hand and showed me the way

Is that a raccoon on your head or hair...I thought you said you were scared of going bald?
First of all, NEVER be scared of going bald!
Second, from that photo, you have nothing to worry about...today anyway.
Looks like a full head of hair to me. At one point, many of us here would definately envy you! But now, and I think I speak for most here, we're completely happy without the mop!
But if you do decide to get rid of it, you are, NOW AND ALWAYS, welcome here!

First of all, NEVER be scared of going bald!
What he says.
Moreover, there are two groups or should I say "styles" of Sly, one is for the guys w/ male pattern baldness, the others are those who chose to be bald, for a while, or permanently even though they are completely capable of growing a full head of natural hair. From your picture, you are clearly, without doubt or question in the second style. Someday you may want to try it, it's "cool", it's stylish, and it's also fun

.
The only thing I and a lot of other guys feared was having a horseshoe or combover hair style--that is scary, really scary--think Bozo the Clown.

I concur. You are not going bald, that's just that natural point on the back of your head where the hairs spiral out in various directions exposing a point of skin where the hairs don't overlap. Find the nearest cat or dog and notice how thick their fur is, now separate the fur with your hands and suddenly you'll expose a bald line.
I college my roommate looked at that point on the back of my head one night and said that he thought I was going bald. It disturbed me a bit, and I even checked out hair restoration sites on this new fangled "interweb" the next day! That was probably, wow, 13 or 14 years ago and now when I rub my head across that point on my scalp I can feel it's covered in stubble. So if I was really going bald I should see some real signs by now.
BTW, I don't want my hair and I find the threads on permanently destroying hairs from tweezing and lasering very tempting, but I really don't want to go bald naturally. Does that make any sense whatsoever?

Great lads on this forum! Yeah I mean I dont even know why I'm this afraid of going bald. I mean it's normal and everything, but the thought just scares me. But yeah dawg, I SHOULD shave it off one day, check what it looks like... but I REALLY have to pluck up my courage to do something like that.
Yeah rusty, that's what happened to me as well! I was already angry that my hair was shorter than I wanted it, and there goes my mother in law with a 'He's left a hole in your crown! Made it look like you're going bald!', I took a photo and I saw that white scalp through my hair..

Thanks! The secret here is it seems to suite everybody if not the majority. One thing I do know is that I have never seen a combover or a horseshoe that has made me envious and I don't recall seeing a bald guy who I didn't think looked good.

Exactly! Everybody fears going bald but the truth is that most guys look just fine without any hair and in some cases, being hair-free is a huge improvement. It's the Bozo look that is to be feared, not the completely bald head.
