Badger Hair Shave Brush

• I recently purchased a new shaving brush and thought I'd let ya'll know what I think.  I have been using "uber lather" now for a few weeks and absolutely love the results.  I had an el-cheepo shaving brush that I bought from wally world when I first went sly.  It's the brush that's made from boar hair.  My new brush is made by Edwin Jagger and is the "best badger" model.  I was a bit skeptical of whether or not it would really be worth the extra money or not.
  
  I'm happy to report that this brush REALLY DOES make a difference.  The brush makes a better quality lather and feels GREAT on my dome.  If there is anyone out there contemplating buying a shave brush I would highly recommend spending the extra money to invest in a good quality badger hair brush over the less expensive / less quality boar hair brush's.  Just my $0.02 worth.

• If you got yours at Wally World it's like mine and it's synthetic not boars hair. But the more I read about boars and badgers hair being hollow and thus can cause some major microbial nasties! I'll stick with my cheepo. Actually now there are synthetics that go for a hundred bucks!

• I've been watching the uber lather discussions on here and also have the Wally World model.  I always just used the soap like dad used to use.  But I read that you use glycerin and cream for the really good stuff.  I now have the glycerin.  What type of cream should I use?  I assume none of that canned stuff.

• Headslick should work great for that.  You could also use some "real shaving company for sensitive skin" it is available at rite aid.  I plan on doing a review on this product soon.

• Any quality shave cream that comes in a tube. Your best bet is to search You Tube for "uber lather" there's nothing like it once you learn how to mix it up well.

  I'll have to check into the "microbial nasties"!  Don't want hair (what's left) growing up there, much less anything else! 
  
  As for the type of cream, Gary's right on the money.  I'm using one you can purchase at bath & body works made by C.O. Bigelow.  This is the only cream I have used while on the uber lather regiment.  When I run out I'm going to try an Aveda shave cream for men.  I've read several good reviews for this product from fellow head shavers on the web.  Will post a review then.

  I got my silvertip badger brush from fendrihan and will NEVER not use a badger brush. Feeling that thing exfoliates your skin and beat together some uber lather is amazing. Its true what he says about the brush creating a better quality lather too. Its a more hydrated lather and you can get much more lather for the amount of cream/soap being used.

• Bought my first brush a couple of weeks ago.  Yes, it is a cheapy $5 synthetic brush from Sally Beauty Supply - but, what a huge difference even that makes from not using a brush!!  I will *never* go back to not using a brush!

• You'all have me curious.   What is the benefit of a brush?   I shave daily and there isn't much stubble to lift -- or am I missing the point?    I just squirt headlube in my hand and rub it on my head.   Sounds like I'm missing an opportunity for something better?

  The brush has several benefits:
  
  1) It holds your HeadSlick and as you churn the brush on your head more lather will be created. You will also find that you use less product because the brush holds the HS.
  2) The brush is a natural exfoliator.
  3) It just feels damn good.

• Use a few drops of Bald Guyz shave gel on top of the shaving soap cake and whip up a lather with the pre-soaked, warm brush...can't beat the lather or results!
