I do not know where to begin on this one. All I can say is that I must not be living my life right. Why do I attract the weird crazy ones?
I told you all about the lady yesterday who had the ear fetish. I am afraid she will show up again today. If she does, I will politely ask her to walk back out.
A few weeks ago I told you all about a guy I met at the gas station. He was working there and was Sly. As soon as he noticed me he was like HEY BRO! Nice do! I was like Same to ya bro. Told him about SBG and all and he was pumped. He had been looking for a site to hang out in. I gave him business card and told him about the July Convention. He was like dude I need to hurry and sign up so I can get included on the July thing. Told him he was more than welcome to come along.
Well, that has been a few weeks ago and I have nto seen him or heard from him at all. I even asked one of the guys at the gas station what has happened to him. I couldnt get an answer. All he would say was that it was personal info that he could not release. So I settled for that. Been keeping my eye out for him. I did run across his g/f and I stopped her and asked her where he has been or where he is at. She just would look at me with the strangest look and walked off. Not a word. I thought OK this is weird...something has happened.
Well, this morning...FRONT PAGE in the newspaper. He has been thrown in jail on rape charges. He actually held his g/f against her will and raped her, at knife point. Cut her clothes off and kept repeatedly stabbing the pillow and headboard of the bed when she wouldnt perform as he wished. She ended up getting away from him.
He has been in Jail since May 22nd on a $250,000.00 bond. I am glad he has not decided to join in here. I doubt it if he will after all that has happened. Keep your eyes peeled for this man if he does try. Talk to you all later.

I think my main concern is, Do we just invite who ever to come visit this site without knowing them? I think this is an isolated incident on my part, but he jsut seemed normal. I know..define "normal" but I would have never thought he would be a rapist.
So, do we start being a little more selective on who we invite to come to the forum? This is a small town and I think we have just about as much trouble as the larger cities.
What is the proper way to prevent this in the future? I am interested in hearing what others have to say about this.

Timm, maybe we should ask a battery of questions before saying anything about our awesome forum? Starting with, but not limited to:
1. Are you a predator?
2. Are you a registered offender?
3. How do you feel about the scumbags that prey on women and children?
4. Do you have a criminal record?
Thats a start.... Any of youguys have and questions to add?

Sure you can... And the only ones who would get offended are the ones with something to hide..... and you should be able to tell if they are lying

While I think rape is a horrible thing, I think we need to take the innocent until proven guilty approach. Plus, we can't going around asking people if they are rapists. I don't ask you guys that question when you join. Who knows what skeletons any of you have hidden in your closet. This is online, so you should always be cautious of people.
I'm not defending this guy because I don't know anything about him, but I do know there are several people that are charged with rape that are proven innocent. I have a fraternity brother that was accused, arrested, expelled from college and ostracized only to be exonerated when the evidence came out and the woman eventually admitted that she made the whole story up.

Exactly. Besides, do you really expect anyone to answer "Yes" to questions like "Are you a predator?" or "are you a registered sex offender?" And how could you possibly know if they were telling the truth or not when everything is being asked online and there's no opportunity to even examine the person's reactions or body language?

I understand what Tyler is saying and I will not debate it at all. I am just saying in this instance, it really just made me rethink about how I ask people to visit or join the site. Have I offended anyone who may have read that? If I have, well all I can say is Im praying for you taht you get the help you need. Everything can be turned around and made to be better.
Just please do not take this as I am lashing out against someone in here, I have no idea who has done what in here. Dont really want to know and this isnt the place to find out. I am just saying that if I know of someone who has, I would just rather not have them here.
Is that fair enough?

Honestly, i dont see how there is a way to "test" people, so i think that we shouldnt worry to hard about it, you know? just hope and pray that those kind of people arent or will not be here. thats the problem with the internet. it can grant you complete anonymity.

5. Are you a member of a white supremacist group?
6. How do you feel about the scumbags who made subprime loans and took taxpayer money for doing it?
7. Do you agree with Rush Limbaugh or Ann Coulter about anything?
(Just throwing in a little humor of my own.)
