So I'm a BBC and have naturally a very thick head of hair. I love shaving my head but because I have so much hair and it grows so fast I pretty much have to shave every day to keep the stubble from at least unbearable. I use gillette fusion proglide and mach 3, and these blades are running out fast! Any suggestions to make razors last longer or alternative blades? I don't know how to use a straight though!
Have you ever thought of investing in a double edge safety razor? The microtouch safety razor is $20 and comes with 12blades. Refill Razors are real cheap.
A blade extender strategy is to shave FIRST with a double edge. The blades are cheap. Think of them as the weed whacker or brush hog that mows down the field. Then use the multi-blade Gillette, Schick or Head Blade to smooth up the results.
I've not mastered a smooth shave with the DE, but it does make the other blades last longer.
I have used the microtouch Sir Harry mentioned. It does a good job, and the blades last a long time.
Not a fan of the microtouch, had it and did an ok job till I bought an Edwin jagger. Night and day difference. You can buy on Amazon for about $40 (well worth the money) like mrzed said I haven't been able to master the DE to get a 'completely' smooth finish. I use feather blades which are really sharp in my opinion. Might give the DE a shot to knock down and then smooth over with Mach 3 or whatever cart (might make them last a little longer)
