Kenny you rock the shaved head really well, you look terrific bro! It's just because you're young and the other dudes can't relate- your confidence in your own image will really shine through
I have been shaving my head since August, 2009. I have a pretty full head of hair, mostly gray. When I am asked why I shave it, I have always just given the real reason: I wanted to tattoo it!
When asked why I keep it shaved, I give the real reasons: I like to show my tattoo and while I love being bald, I wish all of this F****** hair would fall out, since I really don't like having to shave to be bald!
One woman (who doesn't know me well enough that she ought to feel entitled to comment to me on such matters) told me that she thought we all got smarter as we got older but apparently I did not.
Another woman I have known very well for several years asked me for a date. She and I have become very good friends.
I only got one or two negative comments. Nearly everyone said things like it looks great, it makes you look younger, it must feel cool. One female friend made several very positive comments to me at a fourth of July barbeque. At the end of the night, her husband said to me that she wanted to talk to him about going sly!
Pretty positive here. My other half's parents still aren't keen on it I don't think, though they don't out-and-out say it.
As mentioned above, the main comments I get with negativity is from other balding people either with horseshoe or in denial, which in turn actually just makes me feel better!
I was also the same as Kenny! Exactly the same! When people asked why I shaved it off, I just said because I wanted to. Once I was more confident, when people asked I just told them the truth - I shaved it because I'm going bald.
My mother-in-law was startled by my new look, but didn't say anything bad. My father-in-law smiled and asked how long I was going to shave my head. When I said forever, he said "good for you!" That was a response I didn't expect.
It's only now that I'm sly that I notice the extent of my MPB. I used to joke with my barber about the bald spot in back, but now I realize it was bigger than I thought and my hairline was more receded than I imagined. Now I don't worry about that - I just enjoy the smooth, slick dome!
