Hello Everyone!
I am not sure why I did not look for a bald man forum before! This is a great site!
A little about me: i am now 27 years old and noticed my thinning hair when I was 18. I was of coarse in denial just told my self I always had thin hair. I even asked my hair stylist of 8 years at the time if she had noticed my hair thinning and she didn't really give me a straight answer!
I was still in denial of being bald untill I was about 20. Then the comment from my friends and family finally made me realize that there was no way around it any more. I then decided to start getting my hair cut at the corner barber shop and I was sure I was the youngest person to step foot in there for about a decade! I thought that old barbers would have the best experience with "hairline challenged" clients.
After going there for about a year and always getting a caesar #3 every time I went in, I ended up with the barber that was fairly older and it was always just chance that I never had him cut my hair. I asked for my Caesar #3 and he just repeated back "#3" and I agreed not knowing that he didn't hear the Caesar part! He then started to shave my head with a #3 buzzer and it was too late by the time I realized what had happened.
When ingot home my wife (girlfriend at the time) promise not laugh before I took off my hat. When I took off my hat she actually liked it! So continued on with the #3 buzz cut. I stopped going to the barber as I am not going to pay some one money every month to do something can do myself.
The for Halloween in 2007 I was opted in to be Charlie Brown for my work as I was the closest one in my department to being bald. I completely shaved my head and it looked even better! I tried to continue to shave my head completely but I find it is too time consuming and costly with the razors.
I now use the shortest setting on my clippers and use hem for 10 minutes about every two weeks. I will get reminders from everyone at work that I am starting to look a little "fuzzy" when my hair starts to get too long.
I would like to let any one who is reading this know that you should never be in denial about naturally loosing your hair. If you accept it and roll with it then you will be better off. My confidence has greatly increased since I accepted it.
I would say I have about an inch of hair between my forehead and the crown of my head now.
Now I just wish I could grow a full beard. My facial hair is filling in at the same speed my hair is receding, slowly but surly! Lol.
I created my account and have posted this from my iPhone so, I will post pic on my account when I get on the PC.
Thanks again for a great website and I think it is great that there is a site like this to help and support balding men. I don't have many friends my age going through the same thing!

That happened to me when I was thinning. I ended up with a very old barber. If he hadn't repeated back the instructions to me verbatim, I'd have thought perhaps something was wrong with his hearing. He took me down to a #1, which was the shortest cut I'd ever had at the time. I walked out of the shop in a state of shock, but later in the day when I was looking in the mirror I really started to like it and never let my hair grow out to anything longer than a #1 again.
Thanks Guys!
Dont they say the best things in life are discovered by Accident?
A great story. Welcome!
You right, it's hard not to be in denial ... especially when the opinions of people are 'kind' (which doesn't help the situation at all!!).
Welcome to the Forum, Karl!
Good story Karl and you do look good "sly"

....I don't know if this is a prefered method but it works for me. I use Shave Secret Oil (Walmart for about $3) and shave it smooth with a Panasonic foil shaver. I do have to do it daily if I want it smooth but it only takes about 5 minutes a day. If you don't want to invest in a Panasonic, I know you can get an inexpensive foil shaver and try it. If it works pretty well then just upgrade to a better one when ready!
It's so good to have you join our brotherhood! Hope you continue to post often!
I love the story Karl! Welcome to SBG!!!
