As the title says, I thought it would be interesting creating a thread for all the guys here who despite having hair shave 'em.
Probably everyone has his motivations, and it would be fine to hear them and to share their/our feelings and experiences.
I apologize for the construction of sentences but I'm an Italian guy with a very poor "writing english".
Obviously this thread is also open to the brother who are sly because of balding. Everyone can come in and say what he wants but as I said, I'd particularly like to hear the experiences and motivations, and feelings of BBC brothers.
-
I have a lot to say too, and I'll do, but it would be fine just to see this thread animating without my further contributions, like a magic box, where people can express themselves about their choice :)

Well, for me it was because I use to have thicker hair that was hard to manage, so I use to keep it clipped to 1/8th of an inch in high school. Once I graduated, I took a bic to my head to see how it looked, and for the most part, never looked back
-
I have really thick hair with a few waves and curls, it just looked dumb long so always buzzed it, then last winter decided my buzzed head was hott in my motorcycle helment, bicd it, and it was SO FRESH I never stopped.

uwm, nice topic. alot to say here.
the reasons I've shaved my head .. :)
first of all, the curly hair! it was just..too much, I hated it at all! it was too ...thick.
second of all, I had dandruff problems. that was a really mood killer.
and the 3rd of all, I needed a change, a new look, which kinda makes me diffrent.

I'm bald by choice.... Mother Nature's choice....... and I would NEVER go back to having hair. Too much trouble, especially for a biker.
-
Bald by choice and enjoy it. O0

Ok, I think it's my turn :)
When I was 15 I noticed I had a large M-shaped hairline, quite deep on the temples.
Everybody was saying to me "If you have that large hairline you'll become rapidly bald, dear".
So I thought "well, if am going to lose my hair soon, I'd should enjoy them in the meanwhile."
So I let 'em grow for three years.
Then Came the time to shave 'em 'cause of the "Military Service" year, and i decided to cut 'em with a clipper without guard, you know.
At that point it was clear that my airline was still the same.
So I though "Well maybe it's just my hairline. After all even Mum has a deep hairline, on the temples".
I was proven right. Today, a lot of years later, my hairline is still the same.
But during the time om military service I'd found out how much liberating can be an hair-free scalp.
It's liberating in many ways.
No more fear of loosing hair.
looks great but most of all FEELS great.
No more hiding behind appearance.
Sometimes my hair grow back simply because of my terrible lazyness.
But I'm ethically, conceptually, and spiritually a bald man.
I consider myself bald even when I actually have hair, and I'm so happy when I cut everything and go back to the REAL me.
When I'm sly I'm happier, and much more confident and at ease.
Cris.

I first did it for St. BALDRICKS and really liked it. I didn't like the way my hair looked after riding the bike. Now it's perfect everytime. 8)

I got tired of paying the barber a number of years ago, so I started clippering my hair. The shorter it went, the better I liked it.
One day, I goofed. I took off the guard for cleaning and forgot to put it back one. One more swipe across the top to just be sure that everything was uniform and there in the middle of my head was a swath of 'no guard' surrounded by #2. So I had to no-guard the whole thing. Liked it.
Found SBG last May. Been watching and reading and decided to go ahead and shave bbc. Wow. I like it. So at 58, I shaved my head. Hairline has been steady for years. Some accuse me of a receding hairline. I don't think so. It's just what it is, but that's a nice excuse for shaving bald. Not sure that I'm going back to hair again. I'm enjoying bbc.

For me, it was just something I had always wanted to do. I've done it a couple of times in the past and liked the look, but never went more than a few days. Now that I am a professional, it took a lot more thought. Anyway, I loved the look so much on other guys, that I decided to go for it. I just told my barber to buzz it down to nothing and the next day I took the razor too it.
Now about 6 weeks later, I'm in love with my look and very comfortable in my skin. It's like I was always meant to be bald.

Good topic.
This is what makes me most frustrated.
I just wish I had a choice you know. Even if I had hair I'd most likely keep it buzzed short. Starting hair loss in high school makes ya jaded about it.
I guess just pisses me off that it's beyond my control

I perfectly understand your point.
No choice at all?
You can go sly, and it's a great choice.
Believe me. I'm not gay, but you're stunning.
You're the typical man nobody gives a damn about your hair.
Your head structure and your face are just startling.
Try to think to people who have no choice because they have a mass of hair but are totally ugly.
They would give away all their hair for your head and face, man.

Well, I could have hair still, but I have a noticeably thin hairline. I decided a few weeks ago to take it all off and see what happens. I like the results so far.

I was an anchorman at a television station and it was sweeps week. We were all asked to think of something we could do to attract viewers. That was on Friday. When I got up Saturday, and was in the shower, I thought of something to do that would attract viewers. Stopped the shower, got out, dried my hair, took out a set of clippers and buzzed it down. Back in the shower, foamed up my whole head and shaved it down. Repeated the process on Sunday and early Monday morning. I showed up, by design, too late to prevent me from going live and we certainly got more viewers. Plus articles in the papers, at other stations, on the radio etc. That was almost 20 years ago and I've never gone back. I wasn't balding, although I was then in my late 40's, but it just felt good, distinguishing, fitted my face.
And that's why I shaved my head. PJ

This is an OUTSTANDING story!!! Love it!

I still have a full head of hair, black and straight but ever since high school I have been fascinated with short military haircuts, buzz cuts and shaved heads.
I never outgrew the fascination but did not have the guts to get the haircut I want until I finished my degree and became a professional. I began by having crewcuts, buzz cuts but always grew my hair back to regular length.
One September evening 14 years ago, my room mate and I are watching Clueless on cable and there was a head shaving scene, I have told my room mate before about my "strange" fascination and he offered to shave my head. We didn't have clippers so he used a regular office scissors and about 4 disposable safety razors. I woke up bald the next morning. I was really conscious that time, wrapped my head with a bandana and wore a baseball cap to work. I was not comfortable but I loved my shaved head.
I grew my hair back after that but as they say, once you shaved your head, there is no going back. So after 3 months, I shaved my head again and kept it shaved for most part of the next year and the years after that.
I have been totally sly since 2006, shaving my head smooth at least once a week. I never want to grow my hair long again. Being bald by choice gives me the confidence and makes me feel really good about myself. (My apologies for the rather long post)

Like Mikekoz, even though I have MPB, I consider myself BBC because there are so many stupid things I could be doing (drug, rugs, plugs, etc) other than shaving.
-
Thanks for the complement cris!
You're right, gotta just have a positive outlook!
I'm with TheSlyBear also. So glad I never tried the drugs, surgery, or rugs. No point in holding on to what little you got, while lookin a fool, when you can shave it all and be free.

Great stories and interesting insights are emrging from this thread O0
I'm also happy that even the mpb brothers are getting in.
"Bald By Mother Nature's choice" is brilliant! (**!

Excellent story, Blitzed. I really enjoyed it. O0

I'm BBC. Last May a friend of mine cajoled me into participating in a St. Baldrick's Foundation head shaving event that he and his wife were running. I was buzzed down with no guard then went home and shaved completely smooth. I immediately loved it and have shaved everyday since then.
Within about three weeks, I could no longer remember what I looked like with hair or how it felt to have hair!
-
I am Bald by Mother Nature's Choice too! But really it is a choice to be free of stress of trying to hold on to my thinning hair. It's a decision I don't regret!

I was always fascinated by the idea of shaving my head - even back in the 70s-80s when it was really rare (except for Yul Brynner and Kojack). It was always something I wanted to try. And as years passed and it became more acceptable, I got closer and closer to taking the plunge. I was always changing up my hair styles, and around the time I was 35, I'd gotten a #2 buzzcut. I came home from the barber and kept looking in the mirror and thinking that I really wanted to finish the job. So I took my battery powered beard trimmer and ran it straight down the middle. No turning back. But the clippers were wimpy and my hair was thick, so that first time was long and painful. But after I clipped it off, I lathered up and shaved it clean. I still remember that first time I heard the sound of a razor across my head and that first drive with the top down and my bald head in the wind. And the feeling of a smooth head when it hits a cool pillow when you go to bed. I was hooked.
That first time, I stayed sly for almost a year, got bored and grew it back. But every so often, I'd find an excuse to shave again. I'd be Dr. Evil for halloween. Make stupid bets that I'd almost certainly lose. I'd dare another friend to shave by saying I'd do it too. And now, I don't need excuses anymore. When the mood hits, I take it all off and shave daily until I need a change. My friends no longer even comment or react when I suddenly show up bald. It's just part of who I am and everyone accepts it.

Great, great story O0
I was totally inside it while reading :)

Its an amazing feeling even better is swimming with a freshly shaved head
Sensations are quite liberating , The rush of cold air or hot / warm air across the top of ur head is awesome .
SNow is ok in short bursts , warm rain very nice . Not so good if its an icy blast continuous then its baseball cap time same with very strong sunlight which is really commonsense innit

I'm looking forward to giving this a try. Don't have a winter pool available. Have to wait for summer.

I am bald by choice mostly. I hate hair and shave everyday. I love the smooth shiny look. I feel like I have a pretty nice shaped head too. Bald is Beautiful :@`

I want to be bald by choice too. I have hair, but I dont like it, and I prefer to buzz it very short. I shaved my head two times ago and I want to do it again this year.
