I was an anchorman at a television station and it was sweeps week. We were all asked to think of something we could do to attract viewers. That was on Friday. When I got up Saturday, and was in the shower, I thought of something to do that would attract viewers. Stopped the shower, got out, dried my hair, took out a set of clippers and buzzed it down. Back in the shower, foamed up my whole head and shaved it down. Repeated the process on Sunday and early Monday morning. I showed up, by design, too late to prevent me from going live and we certainly got more viewers. Plus articles in the papers, at other stations, on the radio etc. That was almost 20 years ago and I've never gone back. I wasn't balding, although I was then in my late 40's, but it just felt good, distinguishing, fitted my face.

And that's why I shaved my head. PJ

This is an OUTSTANDING story!!! Love it!

I still have a full head of hair, black and straight but ever since high school I have been fascinated with short military haircuts, buzz cuts and shaved heads.

I never outgrew the fascination but did not have the guts to get the haircut I want until I finished my degree and became a professional. I began by having crewcuts, buzz cuts but always grew my hair back to regular length.

One September evening 14 years ago, my room mate and I are watching Clueless on cable and there was a head shaving scene, I have told my room mate before about my "strange" fascination and he offered to shave my head. We didn't have clippers so he used a regular office scissors and about 4 disposable safety razors. I woke up bald the next morning. I was really conscious that time, wrapped my head with a bandana and wore a baseball cap to work. I was not comfortable but I loved my shaved head.

I grew my hair back after that but as they say, once you shaved your head, there is no going back. So after 3 months, I shaved my head again and kept it shaved for most part of the next year and the years after that.

I have been totally sly since 2006, shaving my head smooth at least once a week. I never want to grow my hair long again. Being bald by choice gives me the confidence and makes me feel really good about myself. (My apologies for the rather long post)

Like Mikekoz, even though I have MPB, I consider myself BBC because there are so many stupid things I could be doing (drug, rugs, plugs, etc) other than shaving.

Thanks for the complement cris!
You're right, gotta just have a positive outlook!
I'm with TheSlyBear also. So glad I never tried the drugs, surgery, or rugs. No point in holding on to what little you got, while lookin a fool, when you can shave it all and be free.

I'm BBC.  Last May a friend of mine cajoled me into participating in a St. Baldrick's Foundation head shaving event that he and his wife were running.  I was buzzed down with no guard then went home and shaved completely smooth.  I immediately loved it and have shaved everyday since then.

Within about three weeks, I could no longer remember what I looked like with hair or how it felt to have hair!

I am Bald by Mother Nature's Choice too!  But really it is a choice to be free of stress of trying to hold on to my thinning  hair.  It's a decision I don't regret!

I was always fascinated by the idea of shaving my head - even back in the 70s-80s when it was really rare (except for Yul Brynner and Kojack). It was always something I wanted to try. And as years passed and it became more acceptable, I got closer and closer to taking the plunge. I was always changing up my hair styles, and around the time I was 35, I'd gotten a #2 buzzcut. I came home from the barber and kept looking in the mirror and thinking that I really wanted to finish the job. So I took my battery powered beard trimmer and ran it straight down the middle. No turning back. But the clippers were wimpy and my hair was thick, so that first time was long and painful. But after I clipped it off, I lathered up and shaved it clean. I still remember that first time I heard the sound of a razor across my head and that first drive with the top down and my bald head in the wind. And the feeling of a smooth head when it hits a cool pillow when you go to bed. I was hooked.

That first time, I stayed sly for almost a year, got bored and grew it back. But every so often, I'd find an excuse to shave again. I'd be Dr. Evil for halloween. Make stupid bets that I'd almost certainly lose. I'd dare another friend to shave by saying I'd do it too. And now, I don't need excuses anymore. When the mood hits, I take it all off and shave daily until I need a change. My friends no longer even comment or react when I suddenly show up bald. It's just part of who I am and everyone accepts it.

Its an amazing feeling even better is swimming  with a freshly shaved head

Sensations   are quite liberating   , The rush of cold air  or hot / warm  air across  the top of ur head is awesome .
SNow is ok in short bursts  , warm rain very nice  . Not so good  if   its an icy blast continuous  then its baseball cap time  same with very strong sunlight  which is really commonsense innit

I'm looking forward to giving this a try.  Don't have a winter pool available. Have to wait for summer.

I am bald by choice mostly.  I hate hair and shave everyday.  I love the smooth shiny look.  I feel like I have a pretty nice shaped head too.  Bald is Beautiful :@`

I want to be bald by choice too. I have hair, but I dont like it, and I prefer to buzz it very short. I shaved my head two times ago and I want to do it again this year.
