hello fellow chrome domes: when was the last time u were in a car accident... i thought about this post when i was involved in a car accident last night. >:(
thankfully... the woman that rear-ended me agreed 2 pay 4 the damages. also... no one got injured. basically... the only thing that got injured was my rear bumper. i got an estimate this morning and called the lady in which she will pay for the damages. it's just a big inconvenience but thankfully no one got hurt. O0
so... how 'bout u? when was the last time that u were in a car accident? what happened? were u fortunate enough that no one got injured? what's your story?

I was in an accident last weekend. Like you WH, I was rear ended. The estimator for the lady's insurance came out and it looks like it's going to be several thousand dollars to repair. Apparently they have have to replace the bumper cover along with the entire bumper core including the hitch. They also have to redo the exhaust since she bent the exhaust pipe.

About a year ago. I was at fault, in a hurry, took a left turn too sharply. First at fault accident since high school.

Been 10-11 years ago Hawk, I rolled a large bucket truck at 50mph. Not my fault but it hurt just the same! ;D

ABout 3 1/2 years ago I flipped my car over and totaled it. My fault.... I ran a stop sign (accidentally) and was t-boned on the back end. SUV flipped right onto the roof and slid about 50 feet..... it wasn't pretty.

November 2005. I was coming back to Sarasota from Saint Augustine making the merge from I-95 to I-4 and took it JUST a bit too fast in the rain. Rolled and totaled my brand new Ford Ranger Edge PU. I had bought it only 28 days earlier. Crawled out with nary scratch. Thank God for seat belts! O0

January of 2007 I was involved in an accident. I was approaching a "jog" in the road and I had no stop sign and the right of way. A van ran a stop sign that intersected at the jog and I T-Boned him. It totalled out the front of my truck. Air bag dust...is nothing fun to breathe in. I did not recieve any injuries other than a sore body...at least so I thought. It wasnt until I was in Haiti on a mission trip that my right leg , hip and all up the right side of my back started hurting really bad. I had compacted everything together when i was applyin the break when I hit him. Was not a fun flight home from Haiti.

Almost 15 years ago. I was driving to work and a lady pulled out of a parking lot right in front of me and I t-boned her in her back door. To my horror I could see the little girl in the child seat as I was heading for her. Luckily no-one was injured but instead of worrying about her daughter the lady yelled at me for hitting her. The cops had to restrain her and she got a ticket for not yielding the right of way. How dare I be driving on the road when she wanted to pull out!

January, 2008. Lady failed to merge until it was too late (not that those merge signs all over the place for the last mile or so of the road really mean anything....). She tried to pass an 18-wheeler on the shoulder, cut it too close and clipped its fender, lost control and came zooming over into the oncoming traffic. That was me.
Six-car insurance seminar, and my poor little Accord was DOA.
25 stitches in the middle of my forehead. But hey, now it's my new SLY scar!

About 25 years ago. I went to sleep, hit a bridge guard rail and totaled a Suburban. Not one scratch, bump or bruise. God took the wheel, there is no other explanation.

Oh :: Wait a minute.. I don`t know if this counts.....but a coupla years ago i went under a low railroad bridge with one of our large company box trucks......
Shaved the top of the truck off ...The entire roof was laying on the road.....And the dumb thing about this was as i was on the side of the road pickin up the pieces a bigger truck went under the same bridge 10 minutes later and almost the entire box was ripped right off ...........That made two of us that day who could`nt read the big warning sign posted before and on the bridge.................. B@n%

July 2000 .... Coming off the highway through a green light and another car barrelled through his red light and hit me head-up going about 40. Spun 360 (or so) degrees and somehow went off in a safe direction (lots of very unsafe things avoided somehow). Re-hurt my neck (3 herniated disks from old weight lifting injury), but that got better after a few months. Just glad I lived through it.

7 years ago, i was driving a black 95 thunderbird supercoupe. I made a left-turn and a pickup truck pulling an empty twin-axle car carrier blew through the light...a near T-bone but he swerved at the last minute. It hit my car so hard that it turned it up on its drivers side. The truck was a full-size 98 Silverado and the crash took off the front bumper, grill, driver's fender and all the driver side front suspension including the wheel on the truck. The trailer he was pulling stayed attached but flipped over and was dragged about 200ft. We were all lucky, the driver of the truck broke his nose, 2 front teeth and his left leg (no seat belt + air bag = bad). I had 2 broken ribs and a torn bicep on my right side and a burn on my left leg from the airbag deployment. All involved vehicles were totalled.

4 years and 2 days ago, a guy did not negotiate the curve as he was going downhill. He then bounced on the curb and hit my Chevy Cavalier head on. My car was totalled. But I only experienced a broken left wrist. But it put me out of work for over 2 months as I work warehouse and do a lot of lifting. They usually say that most accidents happen within a mile or two from home. I was only six block down the street from my home. But I am glad for seatbelts and air bags!

My mom and I were driving home from Huntingdon, PA and it started to snow. I was in an 03 Pontiac Sunfire, and I lost control of the car on a side of a mountain. The car swerved and started to head for the guard rail that separated the road from a ravine. I really didnt want to go over the side, so I turned the wheel hard to one side and punched the gas and hit my brakes, trying to turn my nose the other way. I was able to point it back at the mountain, and I slid all the way off the road into the mountain. Needless to say, the mountain won. I was able to still drive home, but I had to put my headlight back into the car. The total damage was the frame shifted, the hood buckled a little, and the front end needed to be replaced. If the frame was shifted anymore, the radiator would have been shot. I was lucky not to be stranded a few states away from home. :(

Early December, 2005, 4:30a in the morning on the way to the gym. New Orleans still didn't have any traffic lights after Katrina or streets lights either. I stopped at a stop sign, mounted on a tripod. It was a blind corner because of the bridge on the right. Pulled out and, as Emeril says, BAM! Some guy in a new Chrysler 300 blew through the intersection and hit the right front wheel--later determined he hit so hard it drove the axle part way into the engine/transmission on the Avalon. Spun around several times, I came to rest against a pole. He landed in a parking lot on the other side of the street. Minor injury to my elbow. Both cars totalled. I got my deductible from his insurer. Later, cleaning out the car at the tow yard, the mechanic said the engine was just about ripped off the car. If I had been just a little further into the intersection I would have been T Boned big time, my guardian angel must have been with me on the way to the gym that morning. Replaced the Avalon w/ a Mini Cooper--life has been getting better ever since--shaved the head a little over a year later.

just got my bumper fixed last tuesday (11-3-09). O0 guess what happened yesterday (11-5-09)... my bumper got rear-ended, again. :Xo! :Xo! :Xo! :Xo! :Xo! :Xo! :Xo! :Xo! :Xo! thankfully...it wasn't my fault & the man who caused it will pay 4 the damages. matter of fact... my vehicle is currently in the body shop & i'll get it back sometime 2day.
i hope this will B the last of my "unlucky" spells of accidents. i'm sure it will be. O0

About a year ago someone put a dent in the rear fender of my car in a store parking lot while I was in the store. Quess what, the jerk didn't leave his name. That irks me big time. :x! :x! :x!

Last July, I stopped for a RED traffic light, and a low-performance driver (19 year old kid) in a high performance car (Mustang 5.0) rear ended my Corolla hard enough to break the seat back off. I ended up laying in the back seat. I have been seeing the chiropractor for a couple months , and its getting better.
Before that it was in 2003. I was headed for work one dark November morning. I was on a road between the Deer Grove Forest Preserve and the Village of Deer Park. You think I'd get a clue... I was buzzing along at about 50MPH in my Geo Tracker, when suddenly, all I saw was "brown". Whacked an 8 pointer. The buck had to be put down by two shots from the gun of an officer from (I kid you not) the Kildeer Police Department. I had to wait until daylight, but I drove the Tracker home (and blew off work for the day).

August 2006, 11:00 a.m. I was driving a 2004 GMC Envoy and slammed into another car's (Mazda sports) rear near Bridgeview on Tri-State (I-294) in Chicago. LOL, I got a ticket for following too close (in Chicago??) but I claimed morning sun glare as my reason for not seeing car in front brake lights. But I think being out-of-state (Michigan) did not help. Luckily, nobody was hurt but it made WBBM AM 720 radio traffic on the 8's report. I felt so bad waiting for tow truck and watching traffic driving over parts of my front grill / bumper while Illinois officer was writing me. I took a driver safety course and no points put on my drivers license. What an experience ! ---Stasiu

Never been in a car accident, I had a street bike accident at 18 years old where I his some gravel and could not stop quick enough and put a little dent in the bumerr of a womans car, the bike did not fall down and neither the bike or myself were damaged.
Racing motocross I have shattered my tibia/fibula, torn acl, brused lung, and had my bell rung a few times.
