Hi Harry: No problem, I am just glad that U have decided in taking the plunge towards the traditional way of shaving. There is nothing more relaxing and therapeutic of a safety razor shave. Just ask me and the other sly safety razor brothers on the forum.
WARHAWK
Yep, agreed! There's something very different and special about a DE shave. I love it.

Since I have discovered Mike's Natural Soaps....I have been neglecting my other stuff. That is how great it performs. I decided to load up the C.O. Bigelow Shave Cream and it whipped up to a great lather. I still like the Bigelow. The positive side is that I can purchase it locally at our local Bath & Body Works. It was on sale for buy two and get one free.

The “Perfect Shave” soap is a South African Product which I have grown to love. It is made from Tee tree oil and olive oil, producing an excellent lather. The Tabac shaving mug with shaving soap calls me every time I go to my favorite pharmacy. Soon all resistance will crumble…

Tabac is a wonderful shaving soap Waine! If you haven't already tried it, when you do you will regret not doing so sooner!

Got my packages today from West Coast Shaving and Mike's Natural Soaps. Once I settle in from work, I'll read up on how to load the Futur, and explore the soaps.
Thanks to Warhawk and ProphetNoir for their advice and guidance. Much appreciate guys!

Hello there BlueBriz.
I have read so much about Tabac on the other (B&B) site and seen it call me from the shelf for so long... Now that you have told me that it is good stuff, I am certainly buying the mug and puck...,(month end) I will let you know how it goes right here.
DC Sly, that is an awesome spread to start out with, nice pic, thanks for posting... I look forward to your "shaves of the day!"
Here is mine today:
Head (at sink)
Razor : SABI DE
Blade : Astra Superior Platinum
Soap : “Prep Cream’ followed by Reitzer’s “Perfect Shave” soap.
Brush : Tweezerman
A/S : Aqua Velva Cool musk
Face (at sink)
Razor : Gillette SS Flare Tip Double Edge Safety razor
Blade : "Lion" Super Stainless
Soap : “Perfect Shave” soap.
Brush : Tweezerman
A/S : Aqua Velva Cool musk
Comments;
This afternoons’ shave again proved that Astra SP’s are as the best blades for my head shave. “What a shave?” There is no Head (or face) shave like a DE shave. Took my time... it’s a beautiful, sunny public holiday, why not? I cannot stop feeling my dome now.
If you are a “DE Head shaver fence sitter” I suggest you try it someday...It is arguably the closest, most classic shave you can get!

Congrats on purchasing your 1st DE shave kit. U got an awesome kit that any newbie or veteran would be proud of. The Merkur Futur is a very aggressive razor. Keep it set at a low setting like a #1 or #2. The Futur razor has some serious bite so be careful. Prep your face well and take your time. Keep us posted on your DE shaves. Enclosed is a youtube video of geofatboy who has a video on the Futur.

Nice setup! I have a futur and second what warhawk said. Keep it at a 1or 2 for a few weeks while you get used to it. It's a good razor!

Thanks guys. I probably did bite off more than I can chew, but with your input, I am sure I'll navigate it pretty well.
Warhawk, thanks for the link. Geofatboy's vids are very good!

Face (at sink)
Razor : Gillette SS Flare Tip Double Edge Safety razor
Blade : "Lion" Super Stainless

I finally bought the Tabac shaving soap in the neat white porcelain mug after reading so many positive reviews. It is certainly a good product, giving me a brilliant lather and an age old scent. The Lion Super Stainless blade seems to work very well in the Gilette SS FT despite my perception that this is an “inferior” blade.
I finally tried Witch Hazel, after reading so much about it by Warhawk. My dome felt so good and refreshing after applying this astringent juice, followed by the after shave.
Remarkably, my head feels only mildly sandpapery, after 20 hours!

Congratulations Darrell!
Something told me to check in with you this morning so I logged in to see if you were 'still on the path'.
I can see that you have made some excellent selections. Castle Forbes is my absolute favorite product. There was a learning curve for me when I first tried it, but once I got it figured out my shaves were consistently excellent.
PM me if you run into any challenges with it and I will try to steer you towards perfection.
Otherwise, you are in for a real treat.

Got an exceptionally close shave this evening, in fact just as close as yesterday’s awesomely close shave with the DE. As much as I am a DE fan now, the HB still rocks, big time. I think it was the Shaving oil that I used, and the fact that I can drive my little yellow car like a pro now.
