had a full and messy beard this morning, just to get it grown out for trimming - and forgot to take a photo of it... but here is what it looks like now after some trimming.
Thought I'd try a thin chinstrap look. Not done fixing the sideburns, might just take them off and see how that looks...?

Fifteen months into the full beard.
Sadly, I fear it is about to reach its terminal length.
Growth has really slowed the last month or so.

Beards do slow down and speed up depending on the time of year, mine certainly does.

You have gained quite a bit of length, Dober. How long has it been since your last trim?

The beard has been growing since Sept. 2015. With a slight trim (avatar pic), in April.
I am going in, Friday AM for a "new look".
It's my barbers' choice... will see what he comes up with.
After that... I am going for a Tweard!

IMHO the strap makes you look tough - like a street thug. If you like that look, then keep the strap but lose the sideburns - they just look messy.
As a retired law enforcement officer myself, IMHO any beard or facial hair does not look right. A guy in a uniform with a clean shaven head is really impressive and commands the respect he deserves. A guy in any kind of enforcement "garb" with a shaved head and facial hair looks more like a bouncer or an "enforcer" and may command fear, but not necessarily respect.
Just my opinion

Just my opinion Dober; but I really prefer the look you have in your avatar photo - the full but meticulously shaped beard with the waxed mustache is striking and you look really nice like that. I'll bet a lot of people "noticed" you with that look whether or not they actually said anything to you about it. Your current look is not unlike that of a lot of the local bikers.
But remember, this is just my opinion; and I am not a fan of facial hair on handsome guys. I wear a mustache and goatee myself, but if I were as good looking as some of the young men on this board there is no way I would detract from good facial features by wearing facial hair.
