I'm thinking about doing a totally clean face shave, along with the head. Any opinions one way or the other?

I think it would look good, but I for one am a fan of the facial hair. I got a mustache and thick goatee. But I think it'll look good on you.

John, Didn't your wife want the beard? If I could grow one like yours, I would definitely have at least a goat. Nothing seems to come in very thick for me. But if you're wanting to, you should try it to see if you like it. It will always grow back...(sound familiar???)

Sure does ! That's why I'd like to carry out the "experiment."

I say give it a go...I was always a goatee guy (for about 20 yrs)...never thought i could pull off the "Mr. Clean" look...welll I finally gave it a go...and I have to say I love the totally bald look, it does make you feel extra clean...
I say it's worth a shot if the thought is in your head...who knows you might actually dig the whole look much better....
take a look at the avatars around here....lots more 'full monty" type dudes with bald heads and bald faces these days...
worst case you hate it and grow it back in two weeks
...
But just like having your head scraped smooth...give the new look at least a couple weeks before jumping back to the beard ....have fun!
Let us know how it goes our soon to be "Mr. Clean" bald brutha!

John, for myself I prefer the bald/goatee combo, but in your case
I think you have to give it a try... from the pic you posted in the gallery
http://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/gallery/691_24_07_07_11_28_34.JPGI can see that you are one of the few who can look great even
clean shaven, totally clean... you have the strong facial features
that goes great with the look... I think you could even look great
if you went to the extreme and shaved also the brows, I know it's
extreme and you would not go for it, it's just to point out that with
your facial feature you can go even totally hairless, so don't be
worried about shaving the beard...
and as somebody already told you... "if you don't like it it will grow back! ;-)
Look forward to see the pics of your experiements.

Still looks good John. I think without the salt and pepper beards, you loose a few years. Could be a definite plus.

Hey John,
Since you stepped to the goat, you might want to add the just for men before you lose it all, just to see how it would look without the gray. Hit the brows with it also, hell if you gonna experiment, try everything. If you decide to go to the clean look, I don't think you will have any problem with it, I just gotta throw my piece out on the brows. Living in the south its been hot as hell this summer, just walking to my mailbox I find myself drenched from sweat, and its about 15 feet from my door! Anyway, the brows help keep the sweat from rolling directly into my eyes, which is a major plus. I also bought some headsweat classics that I wear at the beach, etc. but there is still some sweat buildup below the band above my brows that rolls around my eye instead of into them. Just my thoughts, but glad to see your trying new things!

John, you're lucky... you seem to be able to pull off multiple looks and each works well for you. I gotta say with your 'goat' pic, your head looks awesome. Don't mess with that!!! It took you too long to get there. Since you had a lot of natural balding, and the hair was grey, now you look completely smooth and no shadow. I'm jealous.

John
Don't know who is Anton LeVey, but the look works for you.
Now if you are going clean you should also take a pic with the stache
only, so that you have a pic at every step.
If you really thinking about trying the "nobrows" look you really have
the guts!!
Bye

John, I think your beard looks great. I've had some kind of facial hair for over 35 years, but still shave it all off every now and then. It normally takes about a week before it starts growing back.
Take your shot.

John I think you should try the clean shaven look and see how you like it eh. Remember, it will always grow back.
I find I usually will grow a goatee for a few weeks and shave it off because my wife wont kiss me LOL.
The only hair I have on my head is my eyebrows. Which even then I've thought about shaving off.
Nice shaved head bro, not a trace of shadow. I've got baldness envy.
I see quite a few members on this forum have great shadow free domes.
