Just a few deep thoughts that I had while camping for a week. I have never liked shaving in the shower, I always do it at the sink before I shower.
Reasons
1. We have a well so long showers don't always work.
2. I like to shower last so that I am able to get clean of any shaving remnants.
3. I enjoy the experience of shaving at the sink, the way a "man" should!
4. I enjoy the experience of showering, shaving leaves you less time to just enjoy the shower.
But while I was camping the only way I was going to shave the dome was in the shower. I'm talking a ten minute shower for two. I didn't bring my Fusion so I used the ol' Mach III that my wife threw in.
What did I ponder?
1. This was just using Dial soap rubbed on my head but stilll I got an incredible shave!
2. Is all we do to get the best shave, with lotions and potions really helping?
3. Can I really get a good shave with nothing but Dial and a Mach III
What to do? What to do?? Ponder, ponder, ponder!!!
I have never had any issues getting perfectly smooth with a Mach 3. The Dial soap, I haven't tried, but I've heard that conditioner makes for a cheap but effective shave lotion.
i was doin alot of questioning and pondering myself for a while.
i now have found the best shave for me and i dont see myself changing this method.
1. day before shave, scrub head with st. ives apricot scrub.
2. (day of shave) get in shower and wet head with hot water.
3. wet shaving brush and apply "the art of shaving" cream on brush(the art of shaving brand).
4. lather head
5. shave with then against the grain with each stroke using the gillette fusion.
6. rinse head with cold water when done shaving
7. let head air dry
8. when head is dry apply wich hazel
9. wait 15 mins then apply lubriderm
i dont question anything anymore!
I'm glad to have someone else use the words "have well" when saying a long shower isn't an option - I was starting to feel like a hillbilly -

I have a well also but no water problems.
Plus I have a valve above my shower head that allows me to turn the flow down to a barely trickle and anywhere in between, trickle and full flow, as well, so that when I am shaving in the shower I am not wasting water or using up too much hot.
In fact I use it even when I soap up my whole body, ready to rinse... Turn the valve open again.

Sqbaldie,
You're not alone with the well there are a fair number of guys on here that do. We don't have real problems unless it's like I shower, my wife showers and we're doing a load of wash!
I've been using dial soap for a while now and have had great shaves nearly every time. I don't use it as a lather, but I do scrub my head with it before shaving.
