Reaction From Friend's 83-year-old Father ..
« on: May 25, 2009, 08:38:56 PM »
Today, we had a picnic and invited my friend's mother and father, who I've known for many years.  His father is an 83 year old guy from Italy who can be very outspoken and opinionated, although I like him a lot.  I've not seen him since going sly and wasn't sure what to expect, as he can be painfully blunt when expressing his feelings.

Immediately upon seeing my shining head he said "very stylish" and started nodding his head.  I was really caught by surprise hearing that from him.  He actually made another positive comment about it later in the day ....  I was prepared for the worst, but pleasantly suprised.

What a relief - he's been among the few people I was concerned about seeing for the first time...

Andrew,

That is refreshing to hear that story.  Often it seems that many from that generation would say something like, "Why in the hell did you do that?  You should have gotten a rug, drugs or plugs.  What are you....some kind of skinhead?"  I have not gotten all those comments but my dad did say, "Marshall, looks like hell".  But to counter that with a positive comment, I was grocery shopping one day and a balding elderly man asked how I got my head so shiny.  So I even told him my shaving routine!

Great Story!!! It just goes to show how much each of us has some kind of fear of certain people when we really don't know a thing about them. Sounds to me like a great old gentleman!!

Thanks guys ...

I'm just relieved that he's been crossed off my list of remaining higher-risk people I've not seen since going sly.  Actually, I think he's the last one on that list.  Interestingly, the other one that was on that list is another older Italian guy.  He still likes to bust my a$$ about it, but he is funny ...
